I think I just need to make more frequent trips out to the local thrift shops to search the shelves for old frames and racks, etc. Browsing the aisles there always gives me inspiration! Maybe I can even find a few of those salad spoons to plant in!

Of course I also need enough semps to fill it and my semp stock is pretty low at the moment...maybe by the time I find the right inspiration and make up my mind on a project I'll have a few new babies to plug into it... Lovey dubby

Oh, but they ARE edible--just ask the squirrels here. Grumbling
If I still lived in northern CA, I'd go with you to that show, Bev!

Yeah, Renée. Those pesky squirrels! They do love to sample just about everything, don't they. Glare

We moved from CA several years ago. Lived there a long time (both SoCal and NorCal). Sometimes I really do miss it.
I garden for the pollinators.

I've always wanted to go back, especially since my son lives in San Francisco, but I can't afford to live in CA. We lived in Sunnyvale, Carmichael, and Citrus Heights. I moved back to Kentucky, where my parents live, after I divorced.

Renee, I guess you have a place to visit (your son!) I have several friends and a cousin and a nephew in LA area, and I've been twice in the past couple of years, once I went - I loved it!! Especially socal, where the succulents are outdoor plants Blinking

Why don't you shift to a place where Euphorbies, Cactii and Succulents grow naturally. The red zone, summer temp in excess of 45c. Where Mazari palm grows naturally the place is Sibbi. Do a search and enjoy temps in excess of 47c. No aches, no pains in winter but if you lose salts then pains in summer Whistling .

Arif.

Arif, I know there is a part of me that would love to winter away from the PNW (seattle) yet, the snow in the mountains is great, and the blooms and greenery is also great, and so I stay! nodding

Thumbs up I know the lure of the mountains but I also know the lure of a desert. If I go anywhere it will to some Equatorial country. All year constant bliss and high humidity is not bad for the lungs while the frigid dry air of the mountains gives dry unproductive cough.

Arif.

IKWYM, Renee. I miss CA too, especially the weather. For me, I appreciated the lack of high humidity where we lived in So Cal and NorCal. Gardening was so much easier. Just add water (lol). But the green, green, green here is nice ... four seasons, beautiful colored leaves in the Fall, nice Spring green. My uncle, aunt and cousins lived in Sunnyvale. I always enjoyed San Fran. ♥

I am orig from SF and learned to drive in Sunnyvale then moved to Santa Fe, where I found gardening to be a feat of accomplishment if you could keep stuff alive, and then to north CA a few yrs bk. SF is too crowded, expensive and too different from old days for me to move bk.

My son has to live with several roommates for them all to afford rent. They're all in college, so they're all broke!
