Thank you all. I went out in the late afternoon and it had not opened fully. I am hoping tomorrow that it will.

That purple with the black flares is just so dramatic, gorgeous!
How are the potted woodies doing in comparison with those in the ground, LG? Do you think it impacts the bloom time by much not being in the ground?

Here is Ofuji Nishiki fully opened.

In full sun. It has a pleasant fragrance.

In shade

Shot of the full plant so you can see how nicely displayed the bloom is on the plant.

Liz, one of the woodies in a pot is not showing any growth. Hanakisoi is not vigorous. The Not Lavender is very full. The Dou Lu looks good but I doubt the 2 buds left on it will bloom.

Thanks SoCal and Anya. It is in a chicken wire cage because the bunnies get in that garden and chew on ostii's stems! I would be so mad if they chewed this one.

It is very vigorous, and has sent up several stems from the soil.

How is your test woody peony in a pot doing, Anya? I imagine it's too early to move it outside yet.

Does anyone have both Lavender Hill and Ofuji Nishiki? Could you compare these two? It would help me make a decision. Your help will be highly appreciated. Smiling

That is so gorgeous, LG! I love the pic of ON in the shade. As Anya noted, it has an elegant carriage and presentation of the flower.

I did not notice this before but the red petioles of the foliage make a striking contrast to the light green foilage. What a lovely effect!

SoCal,
That is a very nice picture, and the flower is beautiful.
If it is not too late, please take a picture of the whole plant, with the flower. The flower stem looks upright. Right? Thank you.

SoCal, your Lavender Hill is so pretty! Lovey dubby
LG, daytime temperatures are lovely but at night it can freeze a little so I am afraid to take the potted woody peony outside. The pot is huge, maybe it is not a big deal but I still hesitate. There are 2 shoots on the peony.

Thanks Jasmin and Anya.
I think it might on its last leg, but I'll take one tomorrow so you can see the height.
