I ran out of plant labels, so I used forks. They are much less money unless you buy a labeler and tags in bulk.

Just write the name of the plant on the relatively smooth side of the fork and stick it into the soil. I don't use spoons because of how it is just a big area of plastic and isn't as stable. I'd say these labels would only be teporary and you'd have to find actual labels in the future.

When I ran out of labels I just bought used light coloured window blinds, took them apart and cut them into about 5 inch lengths. I used a felt tip pen on one side and a carpenter's pencil on the other side to write the plant name, with one or the other being pushed in to the dirt. This way I was confident one side would be legible for many years - three at least Thumbs up

@sedumzz, an excellent idea!

I have used metal window blind slats that had to be removed because the blind was too long for the window. Those work great and cut easily. Never thought to use plastic silverware. What a cool idea. And since I hate eating with the flimsy white plastic ones they send with take out/delivery food, I have just been stockpiling them in a bag. Now I can put them to good use! Thanks for that idea, folks!

On containers I use white Gorilla tape. I easily tear a small strip and use a black magic marker. It also peels off and can be used again.

@embermason, that's an excellent idea! Please do post it straight to the forum by starting a new thread. If you have a picture or two to include, all the better!
