How did you attach your decorations?

No decorations, Chelle.
It's all acrylic paint.

Goes to show how little I know about the different properties of paint.

Chelle, maybe it would help to see the steps along the way. I just let it all dry between layers, but this might help.

then added polka dots over the dried black


Then I painted the first coat of the flower over the polka dots


Then I just kept on painting one color at a time over it as it dried till I finished what you saw in the article.
It's just paint but I let it dry between each coat of color.

Acrylic paint is plastic-like, permanent and flexible. As a paint, it forms permanent sheets when it dries, sort of like opaque saran wrap. The best kind to use on these shoes, I think, is made for indoor-outdoor use and is glossy, not matte. I just didn't have the glossy kind. Acrylic is flexible sort of like plastic is. Lots of things made of acrylic.

So it should adhere forever to these pink shoes since they are of some kind of similar material. If they scuff I'll just paint over them, otherwise not much will happen to them unless somebody starts peeling it off in layers.

Happy feet in your gardens now. I think they are adorable, and I have a pair of green ones arouund here that need to be pretty. In fact, I have some clogs (the take off of crocs) that don't look very good so they may need some paint too. Another project to work on. Thanks for telling us how to go about making our own pretties.

Have at it, Pegi!!! You'll have fun and your garden will always have color! Liquid acrylic craft paints work best, just try to find the shiny kind!

If our weather continues to be ugly and cold and slick, I might just dig out another pair myself.
