Those are beautiful! I'm going to be starting some of the Autumn Beauty sunflowers in a few days.

I got the bales of Pro Mix HP on Craig's List for $25!!! I got 15 of them so I can take two to Jennifer when I go to Michigan. I actually don't use it to start seeds, just potting up and then I mix with other things, composted manure, compost, whatever I have otherwise I find it dries out too quickly,. Someone. told me if it dries out and runs off the top, add a bit of detergent to it. Not sure if they mean something like Dawn, or what.

I had no idea how successful the Mimulus would be and it seems like every seed I sowed sprouted so I have 100's! Hopefully the soil temperature will start to warm up and they will start actively growing again.

ProMix does tend to dry out if you don't water it consistently. I mix my potting mix with half ProMix and half Evergreen Top Soil you get at Lowes. I'm going to be experimenting with those water crystals this summer to see if that helps.

I'm not familiar with Evergreen Top Soil. Is it chunkier? Or is it more like a compost?

I don't think I had 100% germination but pretty good this year. I didn't realize they would bloom on such small plants. I guess I wasn't paying attention. Hilarious!

I don't get how they can actually call this stuff topsoil to be honest .. it's basically forest products with sand and its kind of chunky. If you let it sit around for a year in the bag in the sun it does breakdown into some really nice stuff though. I use it for filling up and augmenting large beds.
