Hehehe...SkieKitty, I'm from Durango, CO; so I can totally relate to what you said. Sunburns and all Smiling This truly has been a very strange year, climate wise. Generally we have already hit 100 by April, at least once. This year we didn't see our first 100 degree day till last week, toward the end of the week. Very strange weather indeed. And to be so hot in Colorado, at such an early time in the summer. Unheard of!!!

In the early spring, I envy those of you in warm climates who have blooms while I have dormant twigs. Not this time of year. It is in the upper 80s/lower 90s here and too hot for me! I am sure that humidity plays a part in the misery, but I wouldn't want it any hotter than this! Last year was very cool and wet, this year hot and dry....not sure what to expect. I haven't been gardening long enough to have a feel for what is "normal" here.

I have hit rock on the few holes that I have left to dig. I get outside at dawn and come in when it starts getting hot, about 9am! I filled the holes with water this morning and still have puddles.

We've had ideal weather here for the last few weeks -- highs in the high 70s and low 80s. A nice mild July, and good thing too: I couldn't water much when the new roof was being installed and the house was being painted, but none of the plants seemed to suffer.
