The second one has a weird fused pigtail scape Confused that I have seen on some other plants occasionally; sure makes the scape very short Glare

First bloom this year! And, the first time this 3rd year seedling has bloomed at all - last year I watered too early and caused blasted scapes! D'Oh!

Way way before Stella, and way before my other early seedlings, some Ouranos crosses..... it is sitting in the garden all by itself, wondering where everyone is... Confused

So it is a peach bloom. But a peach bloom that is President Ronald Reagan X Heavenly New Frontiers, so it has very heavy substance.... and Lots of branching/buds. It is SO early, woohoo!

@Zoia, I found out the hard way last year.... turned on the sprinklers and soaked everything, but they didn't really need it. In a couple of days, some of the scapes that were forming were broken in half, with the break resembling one of those party favors that pops..... D'Oh!

It wasn't all of the scapes, but quite a few. I think that there is a right amount of water and fertilizer for a given point in the annual cycle, and you can go too far. I know that some people don't water or fertilize at all, but to me this seems like missing an opportunity to optimize.

Others here know much more than I do about it. But I decided last year to not repeat my early wateing. Ihave lmuch less spring sickness this year too, don't know whether that's related.

My first seedling for the year. Unfortunately, this one is fully evergreen and not very happy in Ohio. I nearly lost it last winter and
potted it up on a nice day in January before "winter" actually arrived. Out of Just Fabulous. Colors are much better in person.

I found a few more seedlings this morning that made my heart glad. The first three are first-time ever flowers.

Second to bloom in the Sexy Samantha x Bubblegum Delicious row. The first one was rose pink, and this one is lavender pink.
Thumb of 2021-06-08/shive1/e4bf7a

Second to bloom in the Dancing Flamingo x pink UF cross. This one's color doesn't grab me as much as the first one, but it's got more of the UF form that was my goal.
Thumb of 2021-06-08/shive1/ca1915

Second one to bloom in Carolina Pale Face x Dearest Valentine cross. This one needed some more sun to fully open flat. I like the edge and the angel wings.
Thumb of 2021-06-08/shive1/387eda

This is the second year for this Jungle Queen seedling to bloom.
Thumb of 2021-06-08/shive1/1f5998

Razor Sharp x SC Night Vision is a three-year-old. It's improved its stats a lot since last year's 8-9 buds. This year all scapes have bud counts in the teens with the best having 17 and 18 buds. It had a scape with at least 20 buds that blasted a couple weeks ago. The toothy edge is not as pronounced as last year, but I think that's because we're having cool temps now.

[quote="shive1"]It was a good day in the seedling bed this morning with several nice ffo's.

My favorite seedling was a Dancing Flamingo kid that is crossed with a UF. The ffe bloom is larger than 8 inches. It's flamingo pink with a coral pink watermark and a green, green throat.

I have some more for show and tell from the last few days ... only those which might be useful ...

21-013 (Pinkham sdlg x Freewheelin) 34" x ;7.5" - 20 buds and 4 branches This is one fan with an instant rebloom scape coming up
Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/7eac0c

21-019 (Little Show Stopper x Nano Probe) 23" x 2.9" - 42 buds and 6 branches - not a great color but I'll put it with Midsummer a Woman's Work which is a worse color but basically everblooming - maybe some of Mike Huben's rebloomers too Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/186dc6

21-020 (same cross as above) 19" x 2.75" - a slightly better color than the one above - 17 buds, 4 branches - possibly will use it - probably not
Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/9df818

21-025 (seedling x Formerly Known As JT Polston) - I wonder if I can get anything really good out of FKAJTP Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/3e35cf

21-029 (My Friend Kammy x Knocking on Heaven's Door) - this is the nicest red I've seen as yet this year Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/34531e

Thumb of 2021-06-08/daylilly99/1fb614 21-033 (seedling x Northwood Green Eyed Brat) 28" x 6" Fragrant 18 buds, 4 branches - I think it might be quite pretty without the damage (insects?)

Tomorrow will hopefully bring a few good surprises. I'm waiting on some more tets to bloom.
