She's the one with that almost perfectly rounded fat squat vase-looking caudex, so she's stocky enough to handle it! Hilarious!

Several of them, including from the February batch, have that nice rounded globe caudex to them. I'm anxious to see all the various flowers from them though.

Oh wow 'Princess Gigi' is now the profile photo of this thread Lovey dubby @Murky what amazes me is that you are in zone 5b. I get messages sometimes about other members in zones other than my zone who wish that they can grow desert roses but think they can't because of their zone, and you surely proved you can and even make them have buds in 6 months and in full bloom in 7 months! Carotenia is the one that did bloomed in 7 months for me and now she produced viable seeds in less than 2 years old. I will get Carotenia repotted soon, letting her rest after producing so many seeds.

Hopefully Princess Gigi will convince those members to give it a try. The babies are all sitting on a small chest of drawers in the laundry room, you can find enough room anywhere to do it.

Now I have to get brave and start acclimating them to the outdoors, and yes, I'm very chicken! Hilarious! I'm not moving Gigi until flowering is done, the others I plan on just putting out for an hour in east sun, and increasing that by an hour each day or so. Maybe in June our nights will be warm enough that I'll trust them to stay out, right now nights still get in the 50s.

Yes and I am trying to hybridize a lot of my "dwarf" ones too for anyone who wants to grow them but they have limited space. This will be less stressfull for anyone who has limited space and have to bring them indoors.

Like this little gal I found in Home Depot, I've had her for almost 2 years and she is double petals. She is only 5 inches tall, multi branch. Slow to start but when she starts blooming she blooms through end of the season:

Thumb of 2024-05-11/GigiAdeniumPlumeria/92c1dd

Strangely she has small caudex.

My seedlings are bigger than that, what a tiny marvel! The flowers are a beautiful color too. Will the seeds from it be guaranteed to be a miniature?

And I just realized what you meant about it being the thumbnail for this thread! D'Oh! Thank you, Princess Gigi is honored! Hilarious! I was actually hoping for all 14 of the buds to be open at once for a super photo, but I guess 9 is good enough for her first try. I remember thinking they're going to shrivel and dry up when I first saw the buds, then maybe not all 14 of them, and then surprise that I didn't lose one.

I originally started the first batch of seeds in 2" plastic cups without any top dressing, and when watering them, the perlite in the mix would float up to the top. So that's simply a water stain from whatever was in the mix I used (50/50 Hoffmann's Cactus Mix and Perlite). I'm hoping those stains will eventually go away as they get older and outdoors in the sun.

I've since put some gravel on the top of the October seedlings to stop that from happening further, and the February babies have a layer of pumice on top from the start that minimizes it. One of those things you just have to learn by doing it.

Maybe by filling the planter completely to the top with the potting mix would avoid it as well. Maybe next batch I'll give that a try.

I think it will disappear as the caudexes expands and grow bigger.

I think if I keep it from getting crossed with non miniature ones the seedlings will keep producing miniatures. I have miniatures that are almost 2 years old that are only 3 inches tall but no blooms yet and I have not repotted them yet. The true test is if they stay small after repotting. I have to be careful not to give them bigger pots. I lost a cute miniature after up potting. (story of my life).

Variegated seedling is working on a new leaf. It's sad to think that it won't survive, but I guess I'll enjoy it while it's here. Thumbs up

Variegated seeds normally survives but mine went kaputs when I repotted them from communal plant to individual. But yours is already individual.

By the way, I only have 2 that produces variegated seedlings, Mrs Rose and a no ID grafted red (can't find the photo) but it might bloom again soon. It would be interesting to see which one is your seedling from when it blooms.

I did have a bigger variegated seedling but it reverted back 🤨

I used fish emulsion on some persian lime trees I had years ago and it left a similar stain. It faded out over time.

I hadn't used any fertilizers then, I wish I could blame some specific ingredient to avoid it again. Maybe it's just my city water. Maybe I'll try watering at least 1 of the next batch with water from my filtered pitcher that I use for tea.

But since yours faded, there's hope that mine will fade too in time. All of the October seedlings have a similar mark around the caudex.

More seeds! Left to Right:

Pinkie Pie, Dino Denia, Chickie, Double Noble.

Thumb of 2024-05-13/GigiAdeniumPlumeria/ed43c8

Pinkie Pie's seeds are almost twice the normal seed size of Double Noble. But less than half the number of seeds

Oh then you probably want to wait when they are bigger before transplanting.

I definitely will. If nothing else happens to them I'll keep you updated via pics, so you can tell me when it's time. I've forgotten the date of when I planted them so I don't know their ages. *Blush*

I go now with the thickness of the trunk. If they are bigger than my thumb, then I will be brave enough to transplant.

Here's another seeedling bloom a double Hurray! most likely Border CA and a sibling of Tauntinia. (Still in Wendy's Cup), good thing I didn't prune this one.

And this I suspect is a seedling of my red, Sweetie Pie. Also glad I didn't prune this one.

My own seedling, not sure who is the momma:

This seedling has huge bloom and resembles Red Dragon although more on the pink side:

First time to bloom: huge multi branches seedling I purchased from HD, I am pleased with the color and the size of the blooms.

Etsy supposed to be multi petal sapphire, it opens solid pink and then fades with polka dot?

Anacondenia's bloom. She is my tallest single stem seedling (3 feet tall) black stemmed 2 year old seedling. It developed multi tip branch so there is no need for me to prune it.

I cleaned up and repotted my one double adenium. Had three rooted cuttings but lost two of them.. Oh, well. I have a parent adenium which I bought at Walmart many years ago. My currant plants are all from seeds from her. The one I repotted today is the only double: someone told me that is rare. I've lots of work to do to repot the others; many of them are blooming now. Double has lots of buds but is late to bloom.
