Mostly if I can catch the split, I will harvest it and let it finish the process on my window sill. Like this Pink Pearl. One side not ready yet. Hopefully my germination test will show the seeds are viable. Look healthy to me.

Australis said: Hi Floridian,
Just wanted to clarify whether these seedlings are grown from seeds collected from the cultivar 'Chandra'? If so, they almost certainly won't produce copies of 'Chandra'. In that case I'd like to move this photo to the generic Adenium entry.
On the other hand, if 'Chandra' is a seed-grown strain, then it's fine for the photo to stay here.
GigiAdeniumPlumeria said: @Australis, if the caption is clarified (just like the seeds) that these are "seedlings of Chandra (or cultivar name)" can these seedlings entry be left on the mother plant database.
Reason I asked is these are truly seedlings grown from the seedpods of the grafted cultivars that it is named after. So it would be interesting to see what the seedlings of the cultivars will look like? We know it is not genetically the same, but still it is produced by the cultivar as shown.
Australis said: @GigiPlumeria - I think in general we don't want seedlings or plants that are not the named cultivar in the cultivar entry - it can end up being very confusing. In those cases we recommend that they go in the genus entry and the caption (or a discussion thread under that photo) is used to provide additional information.

Surprisingly the really small seeds from Budenia (2+ years old) have a really good germination rate.

This really fat seedling of Budenia is interesting. Hope it makes it!

And I've decided to definitely chop the others without buds at least in half. I checked the date I did it, April 11th, and the new growths were showing within 9 days of the pruning. So it definitely seems worth doing it now in spring while they're actively pushing new growth. If I don't do it now, it probably wouldn't happen until next spring, and I really don't want to wait that long. Plus I only made the plant stand for about 20" max height! While I could replace a few pieces to make it taller, not sure I want 2' tall adeniums.
