Mostly if I can catch the split, I will harvest it and let it finish the process on my window sill. Like this Pink Pearl. One side not ready yet. Hopefully my germination test will show the seeds are viable. Look healthy to me.

More seeds! Hurray!

How can you tell if the seeds are viable or not?

And I'm really thinking that I'm going to cut the seedlings from October that don't yet have any buds. The one I did cut in half has new growth coming out of every leaf joint. And if I cut them now, the cuts should be well calloused over so I don't have to worry about them getting rot out in the rain once they can stay outdoors. Plus the tallest one is now 12", I've had to raise the light a bit every week.

The seeds look plump and not flat or hollow. I will soak some tonight to test Hilarious!

Yes, you might get lucky that they would still bloom even if you prune them. And yes, Gigi is showing off Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

These do not look like they plan to ever bloom. I am going to make some banana water and dose everything this weekend.

One in this pot got a black spot that turned into a hole and was growing. I cut it out but I think it may be too far gone. I think it's only my 2nd seedling to perish, so that part has been good. Just need to get them growing & blooming.
Thumb of 2024-04-25/purpleinopp/e6e361

I up-potted the other pot that is not pictured. The roots hadn't run out of room yet but the pot broke, so it was necessary. Wondering if I should get bigger pots for all, just so they don't dry so fast.

Some may just surprise you Tiffany and bloom. I had been giving my seedlings a combination of banana water and they got their first test of AgroThrive 2 weeks ago. I will give them some again this weekend.

I have some that I transferred in individual pots and have not taken off yet but once they get more roots from waking up from dormancy, I think they would just take off.

Another seedling of Rainbow Diamond bloomed, single petal but this will definitely change over time, the petals pattern has resemblance to the Momma:

Thumb of 2024-04-26/GigiAdeniumPlumeria/805ff5

But similar to its sibling. This one bloomed for the first time last winter:

Yes the Momma has the frilly petals:

Although this was labeled Rainbow only when I bought it. I didn't know back then we are not allowed to add seedlings photo in the database. Rainbow aka Rainbow Diamond (I suspect they are the same)

such lovelies!!!

Wait -- what? No seedling photos should be added to the database? Is that only for specific varieties or also for the general species entry? I think photos of seedlings or new spring growth (for perennials that die back to the ground) are really valuable in determining whether or not something is a weed!

Of course, you know the rule of thumb for that. If you're not sure whether it's a weed or a valuable plant, give it a tug. If it comes up easily, it's a valuable plant.

Here is the official from the admin, for our edification
Whistling

Australis said: Hi Floridian,

Just wanted to clarify whether these seedlings are grown from seeds collected from the cultivar 'Chandra'? If so, they almost certainly won't produce copies of 'Chandra'. In that case I'd like to move this photo to the generic Adenium entry.

On the other hand, if 'Chandra' is a seed-grown strain, then it's fine for the photo to stay here.

GigiAdeniumPlumeria said: @Australis, if the caption is clarified (just like the seeds) that these are "seedlings of Chandra (or cultivar name)" can these seedlings entry be left on the mother plant database.

Reason I asked is these are truly seedlings grown from the seedpods of the grafted cultivars that it is named after. So it would be interesting to see what the seedlings of the cultivars will look like? We know it is not genetically the same, but still it is produced by the cultivar as shown.

Australis said: @GigiPlumeria - I think in general we don't want seedlings or plants that are not the named cultivar in the cultivar entry - it can end up being very confusing. In those cases we recommend that they go in the genus entry and the caption (or a discussion thread under that photo) is used to provide additional information.

We can add the seedlings in the Generic "Adenium" and in the discussion thread of the photo, add link or information of the parent pod and maybe the progress.

Woke up to Gigi looking very chipper this morning with 2 more flowers open!

Thumb of 2024-04-26/Murky/551c44

And I've decided to definitely chop the others without buds at least in half. I checked the date I did it, April 11th, and the new growths were showing within 9 days of the pruning. So it definitely seems worth doing it now in spring while they're actively pushing new growth. If I don't do it now, it probably wouldn't happen until next spring, and I really don't want to wait that long. Plus I only made the plant stand for about 20" max height! Hilarious! While I could replace a few pieces to make it taller, not sure I want 2' tall adeniums.

Another seedling bloomed, this is from Etsy, the momma plant is supposed to be fancy colored sapphire bloom. Nothing like it but I like this color of pink a lot Lovey dubby it reminds me of Innocent Glow only single petal.

Another Etsy, multi petal mystery, this has fuzzy leaves and bloomed single petals but I will take it. I like the ruffled edges, and this is more reddish in person.

So far I have not seen a double petals from Etsy yet.

Spring and how fast the new growth appeared is what convinced me. If I see any buds at all when I do it in the next couple of days, I'll not prune those, but so far it's still new leaves coming out.

And I love those Etsy deep pinks, they are gorgeous!
