Lucy, I think we have about 6 inches here but not sure as I haven't been out yet as it has not stopped.

Shoveled the snow. I hope this is the last of the snow until next winter. I am so ready for spring and my spring bulbs to bloom.

I expect we will get some more snow but usually it melts off quickly this time of year as our temps are warmer. I welcome more moisture....maybe a nice rain storm during the night. Working at cleaning an iris bed right now but will have to quit soon to go to lunch with my daughter. Priorities......

snow total was a foot. However I see that the temp is registered at 40° so perhaps the melting is started.

Snow on the ground here melting today because it is fairly warm. Supposed to hit 50. We got about 6 inches of snow overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. Last night on the local Long Island Weathernews I heard that southern Long Island only got about 2 inches while mid suffolk county and out east got about 5 onches. Further into the city not much, maybe the 2 inches. But northern Nassau County, which is where I am they reported 8 inches of snow. At least it is sunny and it should melt quickly.

I went out to get the mail and while I was at it I walked down to the street and the sidewalk in front of the house. There are tulips up on my front yard. Some out by the steet and some further in. I have tulips planted all over the place but didn't look in the back yard or sideyard because there is still snow.

I knew there where daffodils up but didn't realise until now there where some tulips up also. As soon as the snow clears in the next few days, I will have to look for more. And I want to see if any crocus are up as I planted lots of new crocus also.

Can't wait for pics, Rita.

Big welcome Annette. Welcome! Welcome! I remember you from DG. Glad to have you her.

Patty, I might wait on the manure until spring. I've had a problem with getting manure that was supposed to be aged, and it was not, weed heaven. Unless you know for sure.

Going to be a very lovely spring bloom wize as I did plant 4,999 new bulbs last fall. I can't wait for blooms!

And now that it is daylight savings time again, we get more light at the end of each day.

It is nice out. Sunny and warm. 46 in the shade so must be higher in the sunshine. The snow is dissapearing quickly.

I took a walk around the garden, even the side yards and back which still have snow. Just wore my boots as the snow was not thick. So what I see is that daffs and tulips from years past are up but the ones I put in this fall are not. Lots of daffs shopwing all over the yard and tulips too but these are ones been in the yard for years. Nothing I put in last fall has popped up as yet. I am impatient to see them come up.

You say pre '80's, but they look to me to be not very far from old I. Germanica herself! I'd say mabe Amas, or Buto .I don't see blues or purples well( it's a man thing!!), but any way , I'd say the" newest' it could be was late 20's, and maybe even older. She's a pretty one!!...Arlyn

Mine looks more like the photos of Amas than Buto. Exciting and gladdening at the same time. Thank you. I tip my hat to you.
