Thank you very much! But they are not Echeverias. If you can find some Sedeverias, they might do better for you than Echeverias. The Sedeverias I've brought home are happy with temps between about 22°-100°F, don't mind tons of humidity and dew. I'm in a low area too, around 300 feet above sea level.

I see.. not much different for me, any plant with soft, chubby and watery leaves can not survive the hot temperature at my balcony.
Maybe one day if I can find a solution for that, but so far 300 pots of succulents + 200 pots of Adenium is enough to keep me busy and occupied Big Grin Crying D'Oh! Hilarious!

Variegated Euphorbia tithymaloides can get more colorful than if it was artificially enhanced. Just takes tons of sun.

I am in San Francisco where it is cool and damp at night. I've noticed that quite a few of my cactuses turned red when I grow them outdoors.

Nope I don't have those, but I believe those are easily available here, have seen similar type of plants a lot. If you failed to grow tropicals, maybe try to look into these, some of them are contradic to how we grow succulents :
- humidity , may consider to spray/mist the plant everyday
- need good air flow
- if you grow them outside with direct sunlight, water them daily, the soil need to have moisture all the time but not too wet, if the soil completely dry, the roots died. Just give them some water if you see the top soil dries out.
- when you just received a new plant, or repot the plant into a new pot, give it a big shower on the media, then keep in the shade for 3 to 5 days before introducing them to the sun.

Have grown tropical fruits and some plants for decades and daily water has become a habit, I always struggle on the last 2 points in growing cactus succulents, almost everyday / 2 days I will always carry my watering bottle and treat any cacti that their top soil looks dry with some water Grin
Also had a hard time during repotting of succulents , no water for a week ? I stress more than the plants Thinking Glare

That's the reason also in a lot of my question in this forum is how to maintain/provide additional moisture to the plants / media.

Considering it rotted id say int cant be a lack of humidity that killed it. Lack of light maybe, but not humidity. You need to understand, tropicals, we usually keep indoors at all time(rarely outside). There are just some conditions I cannot control- the CnS can weather it out, but tropicals get what they get.

I've found this hard to keep alive long term. I've had it 3 times now. While it seems to well in the summer, outdoor months, it hasn't managed to survive the winter indoors. It reverted to a couple of green, purple backed growths and those are immensely easier and manage my winter growing conditions pretty well. So I've settled for the reverted plant. I think the variegated T. spathica would do well for @Kaktus with his natural outdoor growing conditions. It reverts readily, though, and the reverted growth is a much more vigorous grower and will crowd out the variegated if it's not removed.

Took these photos on my routine Sunday morning walk in the neighborhood..
I think they are the plant that Stefan mentioned earlier.. Just hang it out side of the house and spray them with hose every morning..

Some colorful shots from this morning. Mixed pot in ground dirt in a wire basket lined with window screen. It was much more full of dirt a couple/few years ago. Probably time to refresh it soon.

This Plectranthus can hang with the sux. Can handle the heat, sun, and getting almost completely dry. The pic doesn't show it well but the leaf tips have a purplish/pink hue in that condition.

One of the succulents I know that turns red in the sun is Stapelia gigantea. You'll see red versions for sale on eBay and such, but they're just unhappy plants that have gotten too much sun and not enough water. And once they get water and shade, they turn green again.

I'm not sure about Stapelias needing shade. There are a lot of pics of them growing on the ground in these database entries:
Starfish Plant (Ceropegia gigantea)
Maroon Cup Starfish (Ceropegia leendertziae)

But I also think that was the original question and I hope the pics added here will help show why that is not necessary.

Yeah, I don't think the color change with that Stapelia is an indication of unhappiness, necessarily. Stress colors (the purplish brown with that plant for example) are often a response to sun, perfectly normal, perfectly reversible (up to a point of course), and not necessarily a sign that anything about care needs to change.

To each their own, of course, these observations made after years of moving these plants around on the patio and noting how they change in appearance depending on exposure. I have tried to figure out which stress colors are an indicator of something wrong and which stress colors are just an effect of the season or whatever, and can be enjoyed without concern for the plant's well being. To be honest I generally favor plants with the stress colors on, compared to the green versions, if given a choice. Smiling

Yes, last time I was very upset and can't believe that the capiapoa changed color from purple to green, thought I was cheated.

As for the stapelia gigantea, yes they can easily changed color, depends on the sunlight, I posted this photo some time back.
