I noticed that my lilies page changed too. I emailed Mike Longo for a suggestion. I told him he needed to use colors red and green for auctions. Green has bids on, red doesn't, otherwise everything the same color was a bit harder to distinguish auctions that wern't bid on. He took my suggestion and now it is easier to follow.

Thanks for all those thumbs up! New kid on the block trying to catch up. My experience with Mark is the same. Once he confirms that he received my payment I toggle mine as paid. I try not to sweat the little stuff. If the buyer wanted to push it he or she could wait until the plant bloom to give a true feedback. That's pushing it! I got great quality plants from Mark that bloomed true to name in the recent past. Have some coming this spring that I am very excited about. Mike

HI Mike! Good to have you over there on ATP! There is more activity here than on the other site even in the down season.

I must say that Mark is one of our favorite sellers on the LA. We have always been pleased with his daylilies, and that is what is most important. I mark ours SOLD when I make the payment. Mark sends us an email when he receives our payment. I also frequently keep a check online with our bank to see which checks have cleared and mark those in my checkbook. This way I know when payments are received, even if a seller does not notify us that payment was received.

OK, so I just went and bid on two plants and got one that was buy now. All from Mark. I went to My Lily's page and it didnt show the buy now one. I almost bid on another one, thinking it didnt go thru. I finally went to my all auctions won, and there it was. I dont like all transactions not being on one page.

Ive got to get my marietta coop order in. I found some nice plants, resonable price on the list. Im working on a flower garden, not just pots of daylilies lined up, and some of the older, strong pretty ones will be just the ticket for planting with other things. Ive ordered a couple roses. Going slow with that, but I figured they take the same spray as the daylilies so I can just do them both at once. Also, room wise, the daylilies will grow under the roses, so they can both get the little sun I get in the summer.

The "My lilies page" only shows current things you are bidding on or selling or tracking. Since your one was a "Buyitnow", then it would be in your closed auctions page, or past transactions. I hope this clears up the confusion.

Great thread. Hello Mike. You are everywhere. The LA looks great these days. Love the new changes.

I am a full time user of the LA for both seeds and plants. I buy all my plants and seeds from the wonderful vendors who sell there products on this site. I usually have wonderful communication with the sellers either by email or snail mail. As soon as I win an auction I toggle the pink button under
'closed auctions' to PAID. The button then turns to GREEN, and states PAID. I do not leave feedback until the plant has arrived here in Vermont. That way, I know how many plants I have ordered during the course of the Winter. I also email the vendor a week or so before I want the plants sent to me as a reminder to the date I gave them to ship plants to me. For seeds won, I leave feedback immediately after I receive them in the mail. James Hall (Mljomo) specifically asks for a reminder email from the buyer to SHIP NOW. That is a curtesy to the buyer just in case we may have horrible weather like a Spring snowfall or other foul weather. I have 10+ daylilies coming from James. As for Mark Sattelmeir (Abundant Daylilies) I have never had a problem. I think I may have 6 plants coming from him this Spring. His plants are healthy and vibrant. Both of these vendors usually leave me FEEDBACK as soon as they receive my checks. If they don't after a month, I will email them respectfully and remind them. TINK is great for leaving both feedback and shipping date marked on the LA 'closed auction' page. So is DOT.

Each vendor is different in how they handle their accounting load. It's also up to the buyer to communicate successfully with the seller. Last year I had a bit of a problem with Pete Harry. Other buyers were having problems receiving there purchases as well. We all contacted Mike, and eventually it was straightened out. Pete was busy moving plants to his new nursery after buying out Frank Smith's business...an awesome task. He was just overwhelmed with work. Mike straightened it all out, and we all received our plants a few weeks later than we expected. All Pete's plants were HUGE, double and triple fans, in 'amazing' condition.

I love the Lily Auction, and Mike does a super job, as administrator, in keeping the site maintained in a very professional and easy to use online site. Hurray!

I love it too -- in fact, I'm now addicted. I've purchased way more plants than I have room for, and every few days I seem to get bored and think "Wonder what's up on the Lily Auction?" and there I go again!

Isn't hard to become addicted to the Lily Auction, Betty. Drooling For me, every Monday Night, I immediately go to LA to see what new delights have been added to the auction for the week to come. It's like eating chocolate. The temptation never ends. And, I love chocolate! Next year, I will lighten up on my purchases mainly because of space, and 80 new seedlings which will be evaluated. I have 20+ plants arriving in April. Ouch! My right hand and shoulder feel the pain of all that digging in May. It's a love/hate relationship between my brain and my body. And then in June, I start my veggie garden.

Having stated the above, I just placed a bid on one of James Hall's (Mljomo) newest daylilies. His sale is over. Yikes!

Hi Marilyn and Susan:

Waving hello. I tip my hat to you.

So nice to meet so many Lily Auction addicts. 'Can't live with it, but definitely can't live without it". Susan, I saw you bidding on James Hall's (mljomo) delightful 3 page list of tempting lovelies this week. This is definitely one of his best auctions this week. New dayllies mixed with his sale. Everything is so tempting. Whistling

I would buy from other sellers as well but once I have paid that shipping price with one seller, I tend to stay with that seller for as long as the seller keeps adding new plants. Shipping prices have gone up recently, unfortunately, and the extra cost mounts up over time. It definitely is a factor in my bidding decisions. The same with seed buying costs. I have half dozen seed sellers, I tend to order from all Winter, because I can carry over my shipping costs from week to week. Otherwise, it can be very expensive. Last year, I won 9 plants from Nicole(NDL). And btw, Nicole sends the biggest and largest fans on the LA...with always extra fans, and outrageous gifts(bonus plants). Some of her plants re-bloomed for me within 2 weeks of being planted in my garden!! Her plants are giants. This year, I haven't ordered from Nicole, mainly because of the shipping prices, and because I started bidding with other sellers first, carrying over those shipping costs. If I waited several years, I could pick up these daylilies for a much cheaper price. But at my age, well, why wait. I already have tons of exciting seedlings coming along as well. This will be my first year at hybridizing as well. So next year, I will not be buying so many plants. I have so much to do, and a short growing season to get it all done. Last summer was such a tease because the weather was so hot and the growing season extended well into October. I had many plants with oodles of buds on them before the first frost hit.

I have noticed lately a ton of 'newbies' bidding on the LA. Maybe, it's because Spring is coming here in the Northeast or maybe it's because of the sales, or maybe it's a new generation of gardeners who have been bitten by the passion for growing daylilies. The Lily Auction offers them a tempting place to satisfy there passion and needs. It's a wonderful site.
