These were seen yesterday and I'm sure there are many more because the foliage on a lot of them is twisting and turning with extra stuff coming out of them. These were planted Aug 12 2012 so bloom will begin about like last year in the baby seedlings. These are Tets.
You can see the extra foliage growth where the scape
came up on the right side of the seedling.

This one came out the center and the seedling is
now two fans.

Here you can see the extra foliage growth on the
right side with a scape soon to follow. The white
stuff is sand where we had 9 inchs of rain this past weekend.

This is the dip seedlings planted Aug 13
I did not look for scapes but I bet there are some there.

O wow, what great looking seedlings. Sure puts mine to shame. The freeze last week has everything pouting. It is so exciting that you have a scape, gives the rest of us something to look forward to.

In the last 2 days, I've found scapes on Debary Canary, Wingbeats and on a seedling. I'm am thrilled! My kitchen demo starts Mar. 11 so now it looks like there will be something out there to keep my mind off the mess! Oh, my Nun's orchid and landscape begonias are starting to bloom, too. Spring is just starting to sprout in my garden! Hurray!

I have scapes 6" to 12" tall on SPRING FORMAL, BARBARA BARNES and FILIPINA BRIDE. But it's still pretty cold here at night (up to the low 40's now), so I don't know how they will look when they bloom or even if they will bloom. We're supposed to be 83 tomorrow -- can't wait! And I'm going to fertilize again today or tomorrow, so maybe I'll discover another... But then it's supposed to cool back down to the low 70's to high 60's again. But I can tell spring is on its way here!

Awesome Fred, I am so excited to get my new stuff this year. I always love seeing your seedlings.

By the way, will you be able to send my two plants the second week of March?

Way to go Fred!!!! Please keep us posted as the scapes grow. Just maybe, maybe this will get me in the mood to start. I've got soooo much that must be done and I can't seem to get moving. Maybe the promise of new babies to come will work their magic on me.

Thanks Fred for the great examples of scape formation differences. Now, the season
officially begins as we watch different zones of scapes appear one after the other.

I'm not that excited this year, and I think it is because I feel overwhelmed with so
many seedlings to keep up with. Note to self. Never do that again. I remember
that you Fred had lots of seedlings to manage this past year, and you are still
here. I keep saying to myself, "Well, Fred managed to get through it." nodding

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Dot asked.
By the way, will you be able to send my two plants the second week of March?
After Kathleen recieved her email yesterday we decided to move our first ship date up two weeks too the second week of March because the daylilies are ready for shipment. If you want your daylilies early you must email Kathleen at [email protected] She will also be sending out a notice to all buyers that we will start shipping earlier than stated on the auction.

Mona you will get excited again when the seedling start blooming. Just keep in mind this year work with your best and not everything that blooms.

If anyone wants their plants early from me also just email and ask; 95% of mine are ready. There are a few that are still on the small side, but they may be the dormants not sure, I didn't look to see what they were yet just saw that they are small.

YES Betty I got your email Green Grin! just haven't had a chance to reply yet, was shipping out some plants.

MONA, you will get excited soon I promise BUT......you DO NOT need to be outside until 10:30pm everyday this year doing daylily stuff, you have to take time to enjoy them this year!!!!

Thanks Michele, I'm a nut case. I either over do or under do. I need to learn to just do.

I think when we have some nice sunshine for more than one day a week, it will help so much.

Fred...what a blessing to see those healthy green seedlings growing like they are on steroids. Fantastic!

I am laughing because this Winter in Vermont just isn't quitting. Snow and flurries here for days. Haven't seen the sun for a full day in a week. My babies are still covered under blankets of snow. The only good thing here is that the skiers are in nirvana. It is however, warming up. Snow is wet, slushy and heavy (especially for shoveling). Mud season which follows Winter, should be a doozy this year because of all the snow.

Mona....cheer up. You must be feeling better. I saw you bidding and winning plants on the LA this afternoon. Hurray!

Tink...no early shipping for me. Let those babies bask in the Florida sunshine, and grow to there heart's content. Just tell them there adopted Mommy will be waiting in early May to greet them. ( seems like forever)

I look forward to seeing everyone's first blooms with great anticipation. Big Grin
