Here's a beautiful example of cuttings grown:
Wildbloomers said: Stem cuttings can develop into interesting plants also. This plant (at least a decade old, I don't really keep track) was a stem cutting and has been through many tribulations including a failed graft attempt on my part. The pot it is currently in is plastic, 14" wide and 6"deep. Thumb of 2023-04-07/Wildbloomers/0235d9

If I had been more aware of what I was doing a decade ago I may have trained the roots differently. Instead it just kept getting placed in larger pots.

Its only open flower fell off when I moved the plant to get a picture, and of course I stepped on it.

Is it possible that cuttings could grow tall enough to braid 3 of them together (like you sometimes see on sold ficus trees), even for just 1 or 2 twists? And would the stems grow together weirdly to form an interesting caudex?

I think it can be done but not sure what will happen eventually. I do have some cuttings I can experiment on.

If I had cuttings, I'd definitely try it. Even if they never meld together to be 1 trunk, even the small braid I would think would make an interesting caudex. As long as it doesn't stop them from growing or something weird that I wouldn't know about.

The cuttings have to be long and the same length to be able to braid it. My cuttings are short.

Update on my water rooting of cuttings, I am having mixed results and I can't tell what I am doing right or wrong. I have some cuttings that have rooted with no issues and some that looked like they were rooting and started to just rot.

At any rate I still had a lot of survivors and some have found homes already to friends who just like the blooms and don't really care much If caudex are big or not.
In fact they like the blooming cuttings that now I have a waitlist Hilarious! Hilarious!

Anyway the good thing about cuttings is they bloom right away.

My tribute to Billibong. I am trying to grow my cuttings as a mini-tower adeniums. This is the thickest cutting I have and over 12 inches long. Over time it might develop fat roots but would look great with a thick stem:

I can see that as a very nice tree type adenium, just like seeing hibiscus grown as trees with a single stem. I think it'll be gorgeous once the top branches out more.

Yes and as it branches out more at the top, and I get disciplined in pruning, I might just have a lovely tower adenium.

Yes, I am really pleased how this one is turning out. My only regret is I wish i didn't cut it too short, this would have been taller. So now I am on a mission of making some really nice adenium cuttings make it more like a nice tower like adenium.

Rooted cutting of Doublemoon rootstock. Look at the root system, this is robust. I will grow this as tower adenium. This cutting is fast growing and there is another cutting almost as tall as this that I have not removed yet.

Gigi, not really suitable for tower / rocket style, as the top part has branched out, but still a beautiful adenium.

It is better to look for something like this.. Not mine btw.

That is cute but I want this look. My cutting is single petals pink though so I am debating if I should graft a multipetal bloom.

I have started propagating some of my desert roses by taking mature cuttings or the suckers of the rootstock and rooting them. My plan is to grow these as "Adenium towers" and also to hand pollinate for seedpods.

This is "Double Mooner", a huge sucker from the rootstock of double moon. It is pretty and will most likely have a nice canopy branching once it is older.

This one is a cutting of Madam Violet, it is currently blooming same as the Momma plant.

Has anyone seen the YouTube where leaves & stems are inserted or placed on top of banana slices? If so, have you tried it with any success? I tried it but soil was too wet & everything turned fuzzy. Have another small batch that I am leaving top off container. Not seeing any roots but the leaves have not completely rotted yet.

We follow exactly that banana scam, and proven that it was not working at all. The process was recorded somewhere in this forum last year if I can remember, both banana and potatoes, I got some potato plants instead. Smiling
