tofitropic said: Yes Bea, I have an area designated for Bamboos and fruit trees near the forest, D asper is the only non ornamental bamboo I grow. The culms are very useful for building material, and the shoots are among the tastiest in my opinion, especially when harvest fresh.

We also grow a variegated Dendrocalamus, here is a half moon leaf (only one leaf tho๐Ÿ˜, among their white stripey foliages)

Other smaller Bamboo is suitable for garden and very handy indeed when we need staking material.
I grow small Phillostacys nigra in pots and planing them for living stakes in pots for climber such as Gloriosas.

Niceโ€ฆ. Those are beautiful and tasty too! Most bamboos grown in pots are easier to manage. Bamboo is a handy implement too especially when walking thru the forest to gather spider webs from across the trails. They have many uses and the gardens.
I use longer bamboo 15' to train my dogs and horses as a pointer and block. And use in the pond as a noise maker sections hooked up to a pump to keep raccoons from the fish.
Thank you for the bamboo pics just ๐Ÿ˜ beautiful.

Bea, I am not sure of the species. Its a runner, but it behaves better and grows slower than some others. Running bamboo here in Fl is a nightmare. I have 2 types, this black one and a white one, that were dumped out by the previous owner when they left. They spread before we even knew about them and bow we battle them constantly

It would be very interesting if that pattern persist and stabilize into next leaves. Variegated velvet leaved anthurium is always something I wish to grow.

I would love to grow variegated tree Bauhinias, such as B variegata, or B purpurea.
Thit one is perhaps rather a climber type, but never the less it's angel wing's like leaves will be lovely for me. It was an uncertain species Bauhinia grow as a weed in Oil Palm farm.
Strange is that, this particular mutant is a root sucker, not from the stem or trunk. The root was severed when the farmer weeding their plant, and from one of the root fragment this mutant appear. This is the first time I encounter chimeric mutant that appear from a root cutting.

Thanks Tiffany, unfortunately this species rarely produce more than four leaves on a plant. Most likely will be two or three... they are stingy sharer..., kind of mocking gardener saying, no "I won't give you human no more, that is enough happiness for you human.. Smiling Smiling

ETA; I have just saw photos of this species in the net with more leaves... So this species probably just hate me, not the entire hoomanity... LOL
