Hmmm, after thinking about this, by your statement it would seem that at least half (more?) of the world should still be speaking Latin?

I'm just a country hick with no proper schooling at all. That's where I'm at. I guess I've got to get some of that one day!!!

oooo - don't even get me started on Yooper-speak ! There was a point in time, before I got yoosta it, that I wondered if "I seen him yesterday" was actually correct and I was crazy or something...

I think my favorite, though, may have been the time that the famous aviation team from the US Navy was going to make an appearance for the centennial (I think that was the occasion) of our nearby town and a local restaurant proudly proclaimed on its sign "Welcome Blue Angles!"

"I seen him yesterday" is incorrect. The "h" is silent and there's a contraction involved and the "I" can be understood. For example...."Seen'im yesterday". In the fast-paced culture we live in every millisecond of time saved is important donchaknow? Thumbs up

Yup on the extra seedlings. After seeing my brother's picture of his red cherry tomatoes, I've decided to get going.

I sowed 3 black cherry pots, each may have a few seeds, I'm unable to grip very small seed, so I picked a few, and one Sun Gold pot, all in one 15 gallon container. Maybe I will thin them and give to somebody.

Then I did 3 pots of Bella Rosa in one 15-gallon container.

In another 15-gallon container, I sowed one pot of Celebrity, one pot of Better Boy, these are the early type, and one pot of Bella Rosa, so maybe in March I might get something.

On the last 20 gallon container, I sowed 2 Abe Lincoln, 2 Black Krim. This is it for a while. The big beefsteak has to wait a few more weeks. I'm not in a hurry.

Well, how bout fixin to? I was mildly surprised to be ribbed for spraying that for someone who resides north of the Mason Dixon line.
Anyway, when news reporters say where it's at, or I seen, no wonder everyone starts saying these grammatical errors.
I hate giving up or picking out the strongest seedlings. I keep thinking I need to save them all just in case………

I LOVE fixin' to! When we lived on the Eastern Shore of MD parents would admonish a naughty child with "I'm goin' to hit you upside your haid." There were and probably still are areas there where an Elizabethan dialect of english is still spoken. Perhaps that is where the haid came from. Shrug!

JB, "Yoopers" is what those of us in the Michigan Upper Peninsula are called; well, strictly speaking it refers to natives of the UP, but I've been here for so long that they've come to accept me as one of their own... a lot of Canadian and Scandinavian influence on the language, combined with a healthy dose of hillbilly. I'm pretty happy as long as I'm able to successfully interpret the various typos and shorthanded phrases that have come into common usage... I don't think we can (or should) expect perfect grammar in this type of setting. I really wish our local newspaper would raise their standards a little, though Rolling my eyes.

The UP, visited once, really liked it!

I think I'd miss the slightly longer growing season where I'm at, but actually having a winter would be nice again.

I will not correct grammar, but I happen to be a grammar nut. Unless bad grammar is used to make a statement, I cringe every time it gets used in written or spoken language. I grew up in an age when grammar was an indication of education and upbringing.

Now back to the tomato thread!

I love my ketchup now. I like tomatoes in stew as long it's not in chunks. But not the tomato itself like a sandwich. I like growing them and giving them to folks and hear from them how good they are.
