Tracey, don't forget that it was "Moby" Mary waaaay back on Dave's Garden that named Swan Dive! Circa 2005 as recall.

Your 4n Asiatic is exquisite and looks to have strong stem and nice structure.

I did remember Mary & Swan Dive. It has just been so long since I had heard that name.

Thanks for the comment on the red. First year flowers have made it to bloom. Even with tops chewed off the last couple years, energy back to bulb made for quite a first time seen stem, which was a nice surprise.

Isn't it a bit early for Tasmania, Anthony? I have an iris that has sent up a bloom stalk almost a month early, so it seems we may be in for a repeat of last year - spring arriving early.

That's what I thought: very early. And especially for a trumpet!

Finally getting to post some seedlings. In no particular bloom time order:

There were also a couple with spots that were kinda like recurved Pink Panthers, but I didn't like them, so when I replanted the lot last fall, I removed those and ate them.

This one was more pink last year. Lots of faded colors in general with all the extra heat this year.


Petite flowers on these sister, but generally lots of them.

Always my favorite thread of all threads. I think the trumpet is particularly lovely, even with the more faded color. And quite the bud count on the smaller flowered asiatic. Way to go!

16091 - parentage lost. These all from seed that had embryos half as long as what was normal in that seed pod. Thick long lasting tepals. Pollenless.

I usually get 1 or 2 flowers per spike with 9 tepals on this one. Sexual parts remain normal.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!

Asiatics are normally something I don't find that interesting. But your seedlings have a great variety of interesting traits and color combinations.
I really like the White henryi X Sarabande cross.

I have a brown papillae recurved henryi seedling from Brian Bergman I affectionately call Toasted Pap.
Here it is:



I put some Blackheart pollen on it. I wonder what will show out from the cross.

AUR-8-1-1= Madam Butterfly x White Henryi. The only orange one from the 10 siblings I grew.
