If you have any seedlings to share, please post them here. We all love to see new faces! At first I thought I do not have any seedlings to share. But I was wrong. I bought some seedlings many years ago on Ebay. Though nothing special came of them, some of them are still pretty.

Kare, your seedling very pretty! I bought seeds from Hidden Springs in 2015, 2016 and 2016, many did not make it but some are still growing. I had a few that flowered already.

Thanks for posting your seedlings, Anya! I have no idea that you also tried to grow peonies from seeds! The seedlings are very pretty esp. the yellow one!

I love growing seeds Hurray! I started over 20 years ago after exhausting myself growing daylily seeds (too many nice ones taking up too much room Sighing! ) It's a bit like making wine - after the first 5 years or so there will be new blooms EVERY year Thumbs up Not all very different but still enough to keep one interested Rolling on the floor laughing
This one is an old tree peony (seed from the late John Simpkins) that I call Time Peace as it has 12 flares (as in a time piece Hilarious! )

This one is a seedling of a seedling of Roy Pehrson's Best Yellow with the same foliage and bloom time - it's next to RPBY and they open together.

This one has unknown ancestry but is only 24" tall and has 3 side buds Thumbs up

This is a Miss America seedling I would like to register but stumped for a name Rolling on the floor laughing

This one is supposed to be a Miss America seedling also but I doubt it;

Valerie, nice seedlings! I love the seedling of Roy Pehrson's Best Yellow, it looks unusual and very attractive! I imagine how beautiful it looks with ts parent! The flowers of Nice Gal's seedling is very pretty!

Thank You! Anya. That RPBY has a garden name of Fashion Statement, which I will probably use to register it sometime.
Nice Gal always seems to give good seedlings Thumbs up

Pardon my ignorance here but do peonies grow true from seeds or just from division? I am guessing that they do not grow true to their parent, but in that case a red Miss America seedling would not be out of the question.

Fortunately Leslie, peonies do not grow true from seed - if they did we would not have hundreds of thousands of registered cultivars Hurray! I don't think the dark shiny red one would have MA in its background but the loose double white one at the top is definitely an MA seedling.

These are my favorite seedlings from the group above. They are beautiful but I still love the one that looks like a clematis bloom that you posted in the previous thread the best.

Good for you LG - it's really a no-brainer and so rewarding. I only collect seed from those I absolutely love, as soon as they ripen, note the pod parent on the label and sow Thumbs up The problem comes when they need dividing and planting out so that their full potential can be realized. How many acres are you prepared to give up to this ? Rolling on the floor laughing

Val do you ever have bunnies that eat the seedlings?

I am going to start slow and see what happens.

Val you have some beautiful seedlings.
Question in general for everyone, how do you start a seedling, is there a link to show you how.

LG - my seedlings are in a gated, chain link-fenced area for the first 2 or 3 years so no critter issues. However in other areas of the garden - and the small lawn areas still left - they do seed around and no-one bothers them there either. They are too big to be bothered with when they get moved out though I think there were some early springs where a ground hog did some tasting Thumbs down

SoCal - see my answer to LG above. There's really nothing to it. I did try them inside for a couple of years but the gain on growth was absolutely not worth the hassle! If you can plant them just as the pod is opening - or even just before - they may even emerge the following spring.

Val, the 'Nice Gal' seedling is my favorite. I have a 'Nice Gal' seedling I hope blooms this year. It seems I heard that was a good parent a good number of years ago, where I don't recall, probably an APS show.

It's fun to grow seeds, but do give them a few years to mature, some of them become more full in subsequent years. A couple years blooming before you decide if it is a keeper or not.

I sowed directly as well but so far germination has been spotty. I think the birds or other animals might have eaten them. I hope I will get better results from the ones I sowed this past fall. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!
