Found a set of paints I really want. I really don't neeeeeeed more paints. But I kind of want to upgrade my watercolors to artist quality (I use Winsor & Newton Cotman right now. Which are honestly pretty good despite being student grade).

Found a brand made in Ukraine, which is a plus for me too (Ukrainian family). And I've read many great reviews on them.

Oh how I wish...

I recently did 3 memory lap quilts (2 more to be done) for a friend whose wife passed away a year ago, and he gave me her clothing (polyester, rayon, and a whole bunch of "not cotton" material). She loved red, but never wore it. Each quilt has one block in the center with dark pink, light pink & cream colours for a Maple Leaf Heart block. One lap quilt is for him, and the other 4 for his "kids". I'm hand quilting them all, so it will take time. I don't have a quilting machine, and only the piecing is done by machine. The block above the Maple Leaf Heart block is a piece taken from a sweatshirt she wore, with teddy bears. I hand quilted around the picture.
Here are the 3 I've done so far

Thinking of starting a new series. Something a little different than my norm.

Was thinking about all the feelings and medical stuff I've been dealing with lately, and I thought about exploring them in art through a series of portraits.

Just debating whether to paint them or do them in charcoal. I like the dramatic look of charcoal and I feel like it'd work well with my ideas. But I also want to make them larger pieces and paint might be faster... Not sure yet. If I go charcoal, I'll need some larger paper. I haven't exactly found a favorite charcoal paper yet though. So it'd be a bit of an experiment.

TK, interesting idea. I know you've been going thru allot of uncomfortable BS lately. National Geo graphic did an article a few years back on soldiers and how being at war and experiencing physical combat made them feel-how did they handle it. They were asked to make a mask expressing their feelings. Impressive article and some frightening masks but it helped the men deal with their feelings [and probably helped with facing PTSD]. Self portraits is a great idea.

I'm not sure yet if I'll do self portraits or made up portraits. I kinda wanna use myself for the one concept, but depends if I have good photos for references. I'd need one from when I was a kid.

The rest would probably be made up portraits or modified portraits off reference sites. I did find a few I liked.

I basically want to paint a representation of depression, anxiety, PTSD, my neurological diagnoses, and two other things I've been struggling with (trying to figure out how to subtly paint the one). So probably 6 paintings. Basically a series of things I've struggled with through life that have had a major impact on me, and elements that have contributed to each.
