I buy my bulbs at the Leu Garden plant sale in March, Bate's Caladiums, they sell them for a dollar each, #1 sized bulbs. Each year they have different varieties, but usually only a dozed different kinds. They have online sales, but they cost more and there is shipping.

Whoa, I love wildfire also. I buy my caladiums from Classic Caladiums and they are pricey but they usually send enormous bulbs and the bigger the bulb the more leaves you get. These pics are from last year.

I don;t know if I shared this already. This fern is all over my place. I bought one 20 years ago and now they pop up everywhere. I forgot what they are exactly LOL. They are hardy here too.

And this is Colocasia 'White Lava'. The follow up to the old Colocasia nancyana Nancy's Revenge

I have some of that fern growing in my garden, not as nicely variegated as yours it, probably too shady.

Tofi, your White Lava looks great. I tried that one last year but it never developed into anything. The bulbs I received were scrawny and dry.

I also almost lost them due to beetle larvae, they attack the bulb and I lost quite much alocasia and colocasia. Since that time I grow all colocasias as semi aquatic plant, tubers were submerge in shallow water. I find out they grow better for me too in water

I was just remembering an old friend who grew Louisiana Iris and she was internationally known for her plants. She would dig a large and wide hole and put a child's plastic wading pool into it. The hole would be slightly deeper than the pool so the edges were covered with soil and it could not be seen. She then filled the pool with soil and planted her iris. It was just a big mucky puddle but some plants, like your aroids, like that. I believe she did make several very small holes in the pool so there was the tiniest bit of drainage but not much, she wanted that excess water available to the iris.

I have actually done this. I have used big plastic tubs made for 'dropping in' to a barrel or other container that won't hold water for tub gardens. I dig the hole and put the container in the ground as a mini pond. Its a good way to keep something contained and not let it spread all over, and can serve the function of a small wildlife watering station as well

I thought about burying baby pools but the mosquitos would be unbearable.

A few sprinkles of BT would work for mosquito control. I use the dunks in water and the granular elsewhere that might stay wet. .
