Thread OP
Ontario
I just got these lily bulbs that I want to try growing in containers (I live in an apartment). The bulbs look quite healthy and not too dried out, and the flower tips have started on them.

I was looking online for info but there is some conflict about soil type. One website says do part sand so the soil doesn't stay moist, and another says use compost and keep it watered well. My balcony also gets afternoon sun because it faces west.

Has anyone had success growing lilies in containers and have any tips? Smiling This is my first time trying this particular type of flower in a container. My mom used to grow tiger lilies in her yard and they grew like weeds, lol.

I am also wondering how many bulbs I can plant together. The biggest pot I have is about 14 inches right now.

Moreplantsplz...lilies grow very well for me in containers of all sizes. You should be able to put the three bulbs in a 14" pot. Good potting soil is adequate...I usually add some grit or pumice (about a cup or so, not a ton) but then I tend to add grit to all of my soil in pots. Mainly they will want a fair amount of sun/light and regular water through the growth season.

Lily's are a protected from deer by growing in pots . Also gophers will come from ??? And eliminate any Lily's planted in the ground .
They do ust fine I pack them in pots and they bloom beautifully.

To protect my investment any thing that can be critter bait I grow in pots .

Well… did I mention the pesky chipmunks…. They like to dig in pots…a horticultural mint spray detours most other pests.
I’m so busy... “I don’t know if I found a rope or lost a horse.”
