This year, I planted it in a 20 inch container by itself in excellent potting mix and it didn't grow and then died. (I wanted to make sure it had enough growing space)

Last year, I planted it in an 18 inch container with 3 other Salvias and it did well. (first time growing it)

Guess next year I'll do what I did in 2013. Don't want it to die again.

My plant is showing juicy new growth! Woohoooo!

How do you keep the ants off the flowers? I had this a couple of years ago and noticed ants on the flowers.

Marilyn, when I grew it a few years ago it was always covered in ants, too. Annoying! I wonder if cinnamon or orange peels in the pot would deter them. They love that nectar!
