Thread OP

My favourite, most beautiful plant fell off of its surface in the middle of the night, the night before I was due to repot it (today I had special soil from Soil Ninja coming) and it fell,

All, bar 2 stems have splits/snapped, the 2 newest stems are snapped in 2 places and unable to be held upright, and I'm aware this is where future new stems/leaves will come from... Sad

Is there any way to save this plant? It's not looking hopeful to me and I'm absolutely gutted- I have tried gathering the stems and tying together using a pair of tights temporarily.

Does anyone have any advice/solutions? Would be greatly appreciated if I am able to save it, thanks :)

You can chop the leaves that broke off. They will not recover. This plant naturally has what I call a floppy growth pattern, especially of grown in the house, where light may not be optimum. In order for these to really stay upright, especially once they gain size, they kind of need 360 degree all around even light. ALocasias of this type aren;t really that delicate, your plant will resprout new leaves from the crown even if you remove the ones that have been damaged.

Ouch!

Sorry to hear. Why'd it fall, cat, earthquake?
I think it'll be fine soon also, just be patient after you cut.

I've used chopsticks or bamboo stakes to support, and chewing gum on the breaks.

It's worked a few times, probably all dracenas though.

Sorry about the fall!
I'd guess just gravity took over given the big top and relatively small pot.
But, I agree while it lost a couple leaves it will recover well.
I use garden sticks, or purchase thin bamboo etc, and you can use yarn, rubber bands... to gather in the remaining leaves a little. if they need it. Thumbs up
Plant it and they will come.
