Here is a picture of my version of Florida weave tomato bed.
Thumb of 2013-05-30/Newyorkrita/3e1b0d

I put the stakes every two plants cause I felt it would be too difficult for me to leave out the middle post and go four plants. If you are stronger than I am then you could leave out the middle post and just use the weave to support the four plant row. That would be more tradional for the Florida weave.

Other tomato beds take those triangle cages you see sold at the nurseries.

This square bed has tomatoes and peppers both. On the inside square netting I am growing my yard long beans. In the very back I have acress and just put lettuce and radishes instead of tomato cages.

Oh yes. Tomatoes are my favorite and always will be! Thumbs up

Some seeds that I ordered came in todays mail so I sowed Wakefield and Michihli Cabbages, golden beets, turnips and Tatsoi (an asian green). I am very late to start all of these so I might not be sucessful. Only did a few. But I have a lot of seed so decided to give it a go even thought it is late. Definatly plan on doing these again for a fall crop. Well the beets and turnips are good for sowing all summer but not necessarily the greens! The cabbage seeds will not even sprout in 90 degree weather such as we have today. But tomorrow hot again and then it is supposed to get cooler.

I have never tried either turnip greens or beet greens. Until this spring I didn't even know you could eat them. But I found out you just cook either like you would spinich. Also those greens would be a good addition to the summer garden vegetable soup that I am planning.

I have grown beets before, I love beets. But never tried the golden beets before so decided to get them instead of the common kind. They said that the golden beets don't bleed. And turnips my neightbor makes them just grilled on the grill when she makes hamburger and they were so good. I never thought of that before. This fall I hope to try roasted root veggies in the oven.

Turnip greens are also good cooked (boiled) by themselves & then you sprinkle vinegar on them when they are on your plate. Now, if you really want to eat them southern style you will cook them with a nice piece of fat back (aka salt pork) in them --- if you don't have fat back then bacon will do & THEN you sprinkle the vinegar on them. YUM!

DO! And cut up some of the turnip root real small in there too. AND then if you have some cornbread with it ---- oh yum, yum, yum & the proper way to eat it is out of a bowl with some of the juice in there. When all the solid stuff is eaten & there's only juice left; you crumble your cornbread up in the juice & eat with a spoon --- THAT'S called "pot luck".

It never ends! I have three new eggplants to plant and that means they go in pots. The two I ordered from Burpee that just arrived and the one I bought at a nursery today. I haven't been to this nursery this spring before this. So I have ROSA BIANCA, FAIRY TAKE and PURPLE RAIN.

I also bought a tiny potlet of savoy cabbage. Hunted around and found one with four seedlings so I got my moneys worth. And Tango Celery seedling. Have three in that pot. And I also hace some leek seedlings. I have watched some y-tube videos on growing leeks so know what to do.

I bought three new hugh pots. One of them I am going to try and grow Okra in as I had the baby oakra seeds that I ordered.

So here are my seed starters. Just saved veggie 4 or 6 packs that I put new potting mix in and use for my veggie starts. I don't do a lot of any one thing.

Pea blossoms! First the blossoms starting on the Sugar Lace II peas. Those are in pots. Then lots of blossoms on my Super Sugar Snaps that are planted in ground.
