I picked four zucchini from the garden today.

Washed them and sliced them up.

Got out my new Wok that I have never used before this.

Then I had planned to put this "tomato tower" support in this 20 inch green pot and plant my pole beans but the tower is too big and does not fit. Now I have to think of what I will do.

How about setting the pot on the grass & sticking the tower in the ground around it with the pot inside.

I already tried that but it will not fit around the pot either. Sad And I can't use a small pot becauae I need that room for the bean plants that I want to grow.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Turn the tower upside down? Will it fit in the pot then? If it does it will be tipsy in winds.

Nope, can't because it would fall over. And these towers were expensive and sturdy so don't want try and modify them.

It turned out great!!! Better that I imagined!

All right. Step by step pictures of the pole bean project!

First off here I have two big pots of sugar snap type peas. In the second picture you can see how close this area is to the Driveway Farm. I simply moved these two pots onto the driveway.

Then I went and brought over these unused concrete edger thingies that I had sitting around and made a rectangle that the two bean towers could fit in. My idea last night was to put one bean tower and put these edgers around it to hold the dirt. But when I started I realised I had enough room and enough edgers to make the bed to fit both towers.
Thumb of 2013-06-12/Newyorkrita/3ebd7e

I put newspaper down inside on top of the grass and then I started hauling soil that I had left over from a project last year just sitting in a pile by the garage alleyway. Just filled it with a topping of soil and placed the two towers that the pole beans will climb up.

I planted two types of beans, one on each tower. These are seeds I bought from GourmetSeed.com. A black seeded variety of Blue Lake Pole Beans and a burgundy french pole bean.

The burgundy beans are a purple podded French Filet bean. So looking forward to trying these. I have never grown a purple bean before, nor have I tried the French Fillet types before. They are all supposed to have superier flavor. Link for my variety called COSSE VIOLETTO

http://www.gourmetseed.com/pro...

The other is a Black Seeded Blue Lake Variety. I commonly grow Blue Lake but didn't know there was a black seeded type.

Now I have those two big new pots filled with potting mix that I was going to use. So instead I will be planting one pot with a Tivoli Spagetti Squash and the other with a baby okra. Both of which I grew from seeds myself. Still small thought so waiting yet.

The veggie garden keeps growing. Hilarious! My problem is that I just love to plant things. And I am trying so many new to me veggies this year. New for growing I mean. Like the zucchini and eggplant. That zucchini is certainly a success so I am thinking the eggplant will be a success also.

And when I saw those two tomato towers (well the nursery had lots more of them but I only wanted two) that I bought at the nursery I thought right away how they would be perfect as supports for any type of climbing veggies. They were expensive and no way would I buy something that pricey for a tomato support. Tall and strong. Perfect for beans or melons or cucumbers.

I guess some people have only one or two tomato plants but that is certainly not me! Hilarious!

Yellow Zucchini day.

I picked the first one. I had no idea how big I should leave them so I picked it small.

Had no idea what to do with it either so I just washed it up and sat there slicing it and eating it raw. It is gone now to my tummy. The skin is not as tender as on my green zucchini but still tender enough to eat. But I think it would be better for cooking.

Hey, I see a bloom soon ready to open on one eggplant.
