I spent the last two days digging up some huge ornamental grasses and relocating parts of them. It opens up the view to my Heptacodium miconioides tree in the corner. With the new fence, I finally want to see this area. Before it had two very ugly trash piles in the houses on both sides and I was glad to have the grass to cover it. Now I've moved the grass to the right just to hide my compost bins behind the garage.

I have also dug up some diseased variegated euonymus that were along both sides of the path leading to the compost bins. Left one, and am still deciding if I will keep it or not. The area under the Heptacodium miconioides has the invasive dutchman's pipe in it, so am not going to plant anytthing there this year, but am hoping it will be shady enough to add some hostas and heurchera next year.

Not sure what will go into the area where the grass was. Think for this year I will move some of my dwarf iris there since they are also in an area that the vine has invaded. Redoing all the paths this fall and still working on the new borders. Back yard is very much a work in progress.

Looks like it will be a peaceful, calming corner when completed. What Iris is that in the foreground?

The iris is Fanfaron. I've bought a few hostas for under the tree, some Rainbow euphorbia and some trailing tiarellas. First it has to stop raining long enough for me to kill the weeds and for it to dry out a little.

Saucy Seduction is doing great this year. I divided it and moved it in front of thePolar Star daisys this Spring because last year the daisy was much taller than SS. This year it looks like they are about the same height or the yarrow may even be taller..
Thumb of 2013-06-21/stilldew/3d9cfa
Here's the same two last year. Notice how much shorter the yarrow was.

Makes me wonder if next year the daisy will be taller again.

I'm gleaning ideas for companions for lilies.Your front yard is just great. It looks like my old neighborhood with a mix of houses from the 30's on.
I had a street patch but only planted crocuses. How do you deal with winter salt?

About the only thing that seem to get hurt by the winter salt is the Angelina sedum and even some of it makes it and I just move some more from other parts of the yard to fill in. A couple times one of the plows had scapped off a few plants. The neighborhood is an older one with most of the houses from the 30s and40s and a few even older. I enjoy having the park across the street from me and have gotten to know a lot of the people who walk their dogs there.

Polar Star is my favorite daisy. It does't fall over or reseed it's self, plus it's very long blooming. I have about 8 clumps of them along the street, but they are hiding behind the yarrow in this years pic.

Thanks Rita. It's getting into the wild stage at the moment, but I enjoy every bloom even if the overall look is rather chaotic.
