I spent the last two days digging up some huge ornamental grasses and relocating parts of them. It opens up the view to my Heptacodium miconioides tree in the corner. With the new fence, I finally want to see this area. Before it had two very ugly trash piles in the houses on both sides and I was glad to have the grass to cover it. Now I've moved the grass to the right just to hide my compost bins behind the garage.
I have also dug up some diseased variegated euonymus that were along both sides of the path leading to the compost bins. Left one, and am still deciding if I will keep it or not. The area under the Heptacodium miconioides has the invasive dutchman's pipe in it, so am not going to plant anytthing there this year, but am hoping it will be shady enough to add some hostas and heurchera next year.
Not sure what will go into the area where the grass was. Think for this year I will move some of my dwarf iris there since they are also in an area that the vine has invaded. Redoing all the paths this fall and still working on the new borders. Back yard is very much a work in progress.
