Jan, I also have Regal Nave, that you liked last year, and I have some of that to share as well. You have Tuscan Summer, which I don't, maybe if you have lots of that I could trade for that? Three years ago I threw out a bunch of Sharp Shooter, as I had too much. I better get back to mowing lawn.

Yesterday's blooming results.

Just one stunted iris to show. This is "Encore Lady" by Joan Roberts. Joan lives in the next town over from me Gettysburg VS Hanover), but I got this from Aitken's Salmon Creek Iris in Washington state. Since this is a RE re-bloomer, it comes up early; and shows the effects of some cold mornings during its development.

Nice anyway, Greg! A lot of mine look like they will be" short-stemmed" this year. And so far two of my re-SDBs have bllomedwith "odd" flowers, the falls are curled up, sort of. More stalks to go, so maybe they'll straighten out( i hope !)...Arlyn

I had one that I had gotten a few years back in a trade, never planted it in the ground because I knew I was moving and in that moving process, I lost tags out of pots. Anyway, this just bloomed, a very pretty blue but nothing descriptive enough about it to ID. I didn't have anything on my older lists that looked like it so I can only now assume it was sent in error. Regardless, it's a happy mistake and it actually was planted near my yellow and blue area so I was super happy when it bloomed, knowing it can stay there! Thumbs up

Jan, You'll have to bring a pad of paper and pencil to make some notes for the ones you like. I always have a sale in late July, or early August, most are $2. each, and a few of the more recent ones are higher. I will have a bunch to sell, or trade.

Tom -- how do you go about that, having a sale? I'd love to sell my extra rhizomes -- kills me to dump them on the manure pile. But I don't have the time to organize things well enough to go to a Farmer's Market, or anything like that. Wondering if I couldn't do something very casual here at home.

Mary Ann, I just post some pics on Craig's List, and people call for an appointment. I dig them fresh as they look through pictures and choose. That way there's no prep necessary, and it's much less time consuming. I tried the one day plant sale, and it took days to prepare, and I got poor results. By thinning that way, I don't have to divide as often. Later on when I had to divide and replant some, I had some already dug, and gave people a good buy on them. I have had people come from 200 miles away and buy $20. worth. I always throw in some extras. Some people come back every year. One lady came from Kansas City last year and bought $50. worth. That's a lot of irises at $2. each. I still threw away a bunch, but much less. You have to know where your cultivars are though, so that they get the right ones. I always invite people to come and brouse when they are in bloom, so that they can see what they might want. Of course you always get the nut cases calling to chat for a long time, and then they don't show up. Think they are desparately lonely people just wanting to talk to someone. Ususally get one or two of those.

Some of yesterday's gems. I have rain for the next few days so not likely to get much picture taking until Friday.
