Tom -- I'm so, so sorry about your colt. What a bad stroke of luck. Horses are heart-breakers, that's for sure.

But the filly is beautiful. And you got to participate in bringing her into the world -- that's so rare. Most horse people -- including breeders -- never even get to see a birth. I wish she was yours -- that would be so fitting. But you get to enjoy having a baby around -- they're so much fun!

I see that Greg has his 'Sterling' collection going well. our MDBs & a few SDBs have started to bloom. Have to start photos but it will be slow. Gulp--we use film.

I have the same problem Tom has, no clue when the iris will bloom, although they are looking so much better than they did a few weeks ago.~ Jan

Well, I have to announce the opening of my first iris! It's a tiny little yellow thing called pussy toes, and it's always the first to bloom. I will have to take a picture. I have 3 SDB's that are in a race to be number 2, but still a few days off. They are Red At Last, Boo, and Shindig. We'll see which one comes next, I'm thinking its Red At Last (an MDB) I haven't seen any bloom stalks on any of the other mini's, but they should be coming along soon. The ones that have buds are in the area near the house.

Warmth from the house helps bloom. A seedling is blooming to day. (Last year's photo).
Thinking about digital, but need time to get camera & figure it out. Work being done on the house so we sort of stick around. Weeds need constant attention while plants are still small.

Posted this one before, but this last stalk was funny, leaning horizontally and both blooms opening up all sideways.
