Rita: Thanks for the new thread! Love that little Song Sparrow and the House Sparrows too ... and of course the pretty Doves. We have lots of Doves here and many folks don't care for them because there are so many but I never get tired of watching and listening to them. Their coos and calls are just so enchanting.

I like the Morning Doves. Silly birds. And I love my Song Sparrows. They seem to be here most of the time. Don't care for the House Sparrows but they come for the bird seed too.

Well, that sounds like me! I can take 100 or more pictures and save only 2 or 3 from the bunch ... sometimes they all get deleted and I try again. I get really frustrated though if I see a bird that I've never seen before or something new to me and take hundreds of pic's only to have every single one be out of focus and so blurry you can't even tell what the subject is. Sticking tongue out Grumbling Green Grin!

That's the way to do it Rita, I take dozens of shots and may end up with only one decent in the bunch. Glare

Me too Rita. Those bird bath photos I took? Lots, & lots, & lots of deletions. nodding
How do you think professional photographers get their shots? They take hundreds of pictures & may not get one that's worthy of publishing. Truth to tell, they probably take thousands of photos to get that magic ONE.

You're doing great Rita! I could really see much detail on the sparrows & the one good one of the dove is GOOD! So keep 'em coming. Hurray!

I was in the city today, and happened to have my camera in the car. I didn't have time to get more than these few bird shots.

Lin, the only times I've really had oranges out before were when the orioles came in the fall of 2009. I didn't see any woodpeckers using the ones near the house, but doesn't mean there weren't any. At the wildlife area outside the fence, squirrels were stealing the orange halfs during the day, so that didn't turn out well.

Marilyn: Wow, love that pretty Chukar! I've never heard of that bird so I went to the Cornell University site to read more about it. How lucky of you to get to see that beauty! http://www.allaboutbirds.org/g...

Linda: Cool city shots! The first photo of "Surburban Bird" looks to be a Northern Mockingbird! Great position shot of the Grackle!

Tamara: Great shot of that Red-headed Woodpecker ... such a pretty bird. We don't have that one here and I wish we did.

Welcome, huggergirl! Welcome!
Nice woodpecker shot! I wish I had more species of woodpeckers also, as I really love them! I do see other kinds coming through seasonally. Right now, one woodpecker around...well, her and whatever babies are in her nest! Great pics of the Chukar, Marilyn! Thanks for the mockingbird ID, Lin...I still don't know too many birds by sight.
