As you can see, without exception, the ones that rooted are the ones that had another stem coming off of the stem & that's where they root at. Look closely at the 2 successes that have 2 stems coming off a horizontal stem --- there are roots on each where the offshoot happens. I can cut those into 2 plants or just pot them up as is.They do not root at leaf nodes as you can see in the photo of failures. Whenever I am rooting something I have never done before, I always try both ways b/c not everything roots from leaf nodes. It's possible that some of the failures would have eventually rooted --- I've seen it happen from that kind of look they have on them now but obviously the ones that rooted fastest will be the best in the long run & since I have enough rooted now, I just threw away the others.

I have so many different honeysuckles. I think later (after I finish with all this spring seed starting and planting) I will try and root some of them for new plants. I have an unused obilisk and was thinking honeysuckle would look great on it.

Ann, I could try and root some for you. I am not very good at these things but it sounds easy. I have yellow trumpets, red trumpets and those orangy red ones. I have late dutch honeysuckle Seratina. I have Mandarin honeysuckle and I have Pink Lemonade honeysuckle.
Rita, thank you so much for the offer but I think I will have enough here with what I rooted & I like the color well enough. If I decide I need/want more I will take you up on your offer. Oh wait..... you have some that are bush form right? Bush form I could use. Which ones are bush form & I will look them up to see if they grow this far south. I think I recall looking up 1 you mentioned last year & it wouldn't grow down here.

This is one you will have to embiggen & even then you have to look for the bird. It is *tiny* & sitting on the left hand side edge of the birdbath. There was a young cardinal in the birdbath & you know how small they are..... & this tiny bird came down & joined the cardinal. It was so little that it made the cardinal look big. At that time tiny bird was sitting on the side away from me so it was facing me full on. I grabbed the binoculars & couldn't believe my eyes! It is a Northern Parula --- very pretty & colorful! Especially full on facing you. I had never seen one in my life until today. By the time I closed my mouth & thought to take a photo, the Parula had moved to the left side of the birdbath. And didn't stay long. So this is the only shot of it. He's against the backdrop of the pot the geranium is in.

Thanks Margaret. I suspect there are quite a few of them here. I have been seeing these teeny birds flitting about for some time but they are so small & quick & I could never get a good look at them to tell what they are before they are hidden in the limbs of the trees. So now I'm thinking these must be what I have been seeing.

Ann! The Northern Parula is such a pretty little bird ... and yes, very quick! I saw them around for a couple of months earlier this year but was never able to get a picture because they flit about so fast! I haven't seen them in a few weeks now but a friend who lives just north of me in Ormond Beach says they are all over up her way; she lives on the intracoastal and has a lot of wooded property so I bet they are nesting in her area.
A couple of pictures I took yesterday afternoon.
We still have the Grackle's around but not as many as a month or so ago. They raid the feeders and scatter seed everywhere. This is the Common Grackle:
We have lots of Ground Doves and Mourning Doves here year round; Mourning Dove:
Northern Mockingbirds are in abundance once again; ever vigilant and guarding their nests. I saw a pair chasing a large Crow again yesterday. The crow had an egg in it's beak. This first photo is a Mockingbird screeching at a Crow that was on the ground beneath a feeder. Eventually the Mockers ganged up on him and chased him off, dive bombing and pecking at him. It's a shame the crows aren't happy with just eating seeds/berries instead of going after other birds eggs.
I've been seeing more of the little Tufted Titmouse lately; they are nesting nearby. Yesterday afternoon an adult was flying back and forth to a feeder and then to the tree where it's little one was perched screaming for food. I got two pic's of the little baby ... so adorable!
Last but not least; I spotted a Green Heron who landed across the way on a neighbor's deck ... check out the second picture with the punk hairdo!
Have a great day everyone ... hubby and I are off for a motorcycle ride up to St. Augustine to have lunch at one of our favorite restaurants!

Tufted titmouse are cute, their babies are even cuter.
I know why that green heron has the raised feathers on it's head. A jet ski just flew by barely missing the dock the heron was on. Heron's saying, "Kids these days!" "Darn near wrecked into this dock!"

LOL, no jet ski's, boats, canoes or even rafts/floats are allowed in the waters in our subdivision ... it's all man made waterways; only fish, frogs, turtles, snakes, otters, birds ... and the occasional gator allowed! People are not supposed to let their dogs swim in the water but on occasion I've seen two neighbor dogs swimming! I've personally not seen a gator in the 1 1/2 years we've been here but apparently last summer a trapper had to be called to remove a small one for relocation. Even small gators have sharp teeth so it amazes me that folks would let their dog go into the waterway!

They don't love their dogs enough to keep them from harm. tsk, tsk, tsk

At last! I finially saw Mrs House wren today. I had been so worried that maybe Mr did not have a Mrs as I had not seen her this year. But today I did. I know it was her as Mr was busy singing in the backyard right when I saw her with a bug in her beak going into the slotbox house in the front yard. So they have hatchlings!
Rita: Keep us updated on those cute babies when they emerge from the nest! I'm hoping to see some juvenile Mockingbirds sometime soon if the Crows don't eat all the eggs. It seems the adult Mockers are spending a lot of time chasing the crows from the area ... and I've even helped.
