I've really tried to show some restraint this year. Gone are the days of ordering entire collections. Only six have been ordered to date, two miniatures, one small, one large flower, and two UFs.
Two are coming from Janice Kennedy in VA ( ET Daylily Garden) :
( these are 2022 registrations, 2023 introductions, but I don't think website has been updated yet.)
MEMORIES OF MAUD ( miniature)
A LITTLE CURIOUS ( small)
From Steven Franklin in KY:
MEMORIES OF EARNEST ( J.Netherton) miniature
from the Korths in WI ( Pinewood Garden)
FLAWLESS IN HIS EYES
from Margo Reed and Jim Murphy in VA ( Woodhenge Garden)
LOUISE WALTON
APPLE ORCHARD SUNRISE

Looking forward to growing these beauties!

Donna, have you heard anything from Sterrett Gardens? I notice their website isn't updated yet for 2023. I'm on a waiting list there for a cultivar, too. I also have my eye on several others they carry.

Like many of us who used to sell on the LA, he sells now on FB on a page called Daylilies & Seedlings Sales Page. Quite a few hybridizers and growers sell there, and many items sell out w/i just a few minutes. It is a private page, you have to ask to join, but I highly recommend. People have already been selling for spring. I don't think Steven has a website, the easiest way to contact him is to message through FB.

Rikki contacted me a few days ago about the daylilies I had requested and also said their website is being upgraded and should be up and running within the next couple of weeks. I had emailed them in the Fall and asked about the two I wanted. I would think they're working through their wait lists, maybe depending upon when they were contacted (??)

I'm trying to stay off everyone's web sites at the moment. I have more than I can handle coming I'm sure. Rolling my eyes. Hilarious! Whistling

Julie, I noticed a few of those don't have photos in the database; maybe you'll be the first to post this Summer. Thumbs up Those UFs are gorgeous, especially Apple Orchard Sunrise! Drooling Just a note to everyone - type in exactly what Julie said "Daylilies & Seedlings Sales Page"; there are a number of daylily and seed sales pages on FB and at first I didn't go to the right one (left off the word "Page" in my search).

Donna, I hear ya. Trying to stay off the daylily websites myself. I do have 2 on the LA I had already placed bids on. That was done when I was just trying to stay away, now I'm really really trying. I definately have more than enough incoming for the Spring, so we are in the same boat. And the forever wait for Spring Sighing!

I have to admit that the internet is my downfall on these dark and dreary days. I have to keep reminding myself that I have seedlings just as nice without the price! I only have a few rows set aside for named plants, so each one in means an old one out. Thumbs up

I use that plan for clothes - one new in , one old out, never for daylilies (or any other plants, for that matter)!! Whistling Hilarious! Big Grin

Donna, once you reach a certain point in your gardening addiction, taking out plants is unavoidable. My "garden" is actually just a field where I have a bit of everything. Phlox, coneflowers, poppies, peonies, rudbeckia, lupines, columbines all come up everywhere and I need to take them out by the truckloads every year. I am hoping to plant 4000 daylily seedlings this year, and I have to confess that I did buy a few packs of seeds on the LA, but most generally my seedlings are more to my liking. Yesterday I was looking at Judy Davisson's website. She uses White Eyes Pink Dragon in a lot of her crosses, just as I do. Most of the ones I really liked are already sold out or display only, but I can look at her photo and make a cross that might give me something quite similar. At the moment I have over 1000 mature clumps of selected seedlings, and that many more younger clumps. It is a lot of work just trying to keep it down to a dull roar! Sometimes sacrifices need to be made.

Deryll, definitely understand your situation!! I may never reach that point as I am not, how shall I say it, "afflicted", with the desire to hybridize daylilies. Hilarious! Hilarious! I love them, love to look at them, love to plant them, don't mind weeding, etc., however just don't seem to have the interest in anything beyond. I don't buy seeds, maybe to prevent an "affliction"!! Hilarious! Shrug! Bad enough I'm addicted to them. Rolling my eyes.

I am also too advanced in years to begin a program, even just for the fun of it. However, if I ever am bitten by the bug, I have nearly four acres in which to plant to my heart's content. Big Grin

Added: I'm very safe looking at most of the hybridizers web sites; prices are far beyond what I can or am willing to pay. I can't help but think of how many plants I could buy for that $100 or so for a single fan.

Rolling on the floor laughing Donna, I have four acres also, but if I only had half, perhaps I would be forced to cut it back.

Making crosses is a compulsion for me! I just can't help it. The drug I never get enough of! Floyd Cove had their online new releases a few weeks ago, and I was glued to my monitor for days! I am also of a certain age where I should begin to scale it back, but I keep adding more instead! Whistling Every new updated website has me in la la land, but I have to think 20 times before I buy something new. With all of the seedlings, there isn't a whole lot that I absolutely have to have- but once in a while....!

I like collecting the registered ones. With only a 3/4 of an acre, I'm getting saturated and will have to make decisions soon. Some old and/or unsuccessful plants will definitely get the heave- ho

If I could get the registered ones cheap enough that I could afford it with my Soc Sec check, and if they were nicer than my seedlings, I would go for it!

For an example, Heavenly New Frontiers is still quite expensive, but I have several seedlings that are quite similar- and all it took was a dab of pollen! Hurray!
