I loved, loved, loved the original Avatar. Wanted a sequel sooooo badly. Now it is 2023 and that was 2010. Too much time. I no longer care. I will not be going to the Big Screen to see it. Don't care.

I do want to see the sequel on the big screen if I can find a time when a theater is empty enough, I'm still not trusting any large confined space venues with lots of people.

The last I read, they have the 3rd movie 95% done, I believe they were shooting several at the same time. Originally they had projected release dates for the next 4 Avatar films, most of which would be filmed all at once, starting with December 2021, and a new movie every other year after that. But of course Covid changed that schedule by a lot, so the first sequel is December 2022.

I'm not sure what the rest of the schedule is like, I'm guessing Avatar 3 will be released December 2023 or 2024. But I'm pretty sure they're still planning on 4 sequels in total. Or more!

Weve gone to a movie theater once or twice a year- the last precovid movie was Ford V Ferrari, pretty sure. We have the luxury of avoiding Fri/Saturday nights and find practically empty theaters for a weekday or even weekend afternoon for the movies we choose- (only finding one or two a year we even think worth going for Shrug! ) Knives Out, Uncharted,- nothing horror or superhero, so that rules out a lot of todays movies.
Plant it and they will come.

We used to go to the movies, at least 2 times a month, sometimes more, we would go to the 11am or 1pm show, no one there, aft covid 2 of the theaters shut down, one has since come back, the earliest shows start around 4pm. Really have gotten used to watching the movies via streaming.

Anyone remember the Drive-ins ? …there are still a few here in Oregon . But at this stage these days I prefer the comfort of home and streaming movies.

Used to go to the Drive In's occasionally, had a 66 MGB, went to the drive in and my Bendix spring hung up, had to get under the car and loosen it up, at least at that point I could get under the car! Remember seeing Blazing Saddles at the drive in, in Riverside Ca.

Last night started to watch American Animals, a true story about some college kids in Kentucky who plotted to steal a rare Audubon from a college library. The re-eneacted events are interspersed with some of it being told by the real people. Interesting but husband got sleepy so we'll plan to finish tonight.

The cost of two tickets to the cinema is more than that of a DVD.
With big screen 4K TVs there's no advantage for me to be traipsing out to a cinema.

I watched the first two episodes of Mystery Road on BBC 4 last night, a six part Australian series about an Aboriginal detective, made in 2022. All are on the iPlayer.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1...

Reminded me a bit of a similar detective in the 2016 film Goldstone.

Well it should do, as it's the same character in both, Jay Swan, but played by different actors.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4...

I liked both.

Still reeling from Better Call Saul ending last August. I cant find a show that matches up to it. I started The Walking Dead and got up to maybe like season 5 but past season 3 its just like the same thing over and over. People talk alot about Wednesday but it looks so corny.

I watched Avatar 2 and was just like.. "okay.. this is just the first one all over again."
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was surprisingly thoughtful. Dreamworks has been lacking for a few years but this film harkens back to the likes of Kung Fu Panda. An animated movie you wouldn't expect to have a deeper message such as fear and legacy.

Thanks for reminding me to get season 6 of BCS!!!! So far and away a great show. Audrey did you see my comment, Bob Odenkirk leads in an action movie? Title is "Nobody. " If you like shoot em ups, you will like it.
Felt the same about Walking Dead.
If one likes zombie flicks, Train to Busan was great.

Several of the books written by the author Nicholas Sparks have been made into films. Of them three he also produced, I recorded off the TV.

The Longest Ride.
The Notebook.
Safe Haven.

They're all feel-good movies with happy endings (of sorts)
I find any of them worthwhile if there's nothing much else on TV.

I've started watching "Safe Haven," (again)

Some nice scenes.

We streamed episode 6 of BCS at the beginning of December...it was fantastic!
just finished up season 5 of The Handmaid's Tale... the best one yet I think. Very intense!
I was not an Avatar fan when it came out so definitely won't be watching the sequel.

We'll want to watch new ACG&S

Lost City with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum (16 years younger Rolling my eyes. ) as her co lead love interest. Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt has a short but funny role. A light adventure comedy, diverting if shallow.

Just saw the listing for Hail Caesar, a Coen brothers movie that we've never seen. Lot of good names in that.
Plant it and they will come.
