Nope, the Jordan Peele s/f horror western. Thrilling and really weird.

Super analytical folks will likely hate it. But I thought it was fun.

It usually works best to NOT get distracted by inconsistencies (things that dont hold up to analysis) in films... Hilarious!
Plant it and they will come.

I rarely notice that stuff until a 2nd or 3rd time watching a movie. If I really love a movie, I'll watch it every time it comes on. Some movies I've seen hundreds of times. Some movies are so well done, I still notice new things in the background that I hadn't before, watching for the 89th or 103rd time.

I love old movies and am getting to the point where it's hard to find one I haven't already seen. I'll take that stuff over a bunch of special effects or so much editing that I don't even know what's going on, who's fighting who, who's winning the car chase.

It's early in the game but I was a little disappointed in AMCs Mayfair Witches...I was hoping to love it from the first episode. I am not too stuck on the main character Shrug! we will see...I felt that way about Breaking Bad at first Whistling

Interesting, Chip.
Wonder if it is like that 'Cowboys and Aliens' movie? I thought it was watchable. Crossing genres can bring interesting things. I still think 'Nightmare on Elm Street' is a comedy-horror.

Really liked "Breaking Bad" ....sure, there was a lot of "drug activity" but the series was *never about drugs* or criminals - its about making one bad decision after the other ...

I recorded "Anatomy of a Murder" off the TV before Christmas.
An excellent film from 1959. James Stewart plays a small town lawyer, defending a soldier.

It amused me that in one scene, when in a bar, he's sitting next to the band's pianist. He is not mentioned in the end credits, not everyone ever is in films, but it was actually Count Basie.

Interesting. I just saw Robert Altman's Kansas City (1996). Jennifer Jason Leigh was unbearable as a wisecracking toughie. Not Altman's best film by a long shot. But there were quite a few scenes in a club where Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young were jamming: spectacular music.

Some famous names in the cast:

I watched one of my old film noir movies last night. "The Racket" Starring Robert Mitchum.

In it, Lizabeth Scott played a nightclub singer, a role she played in several films of the era. But in these, as in this, she mimed to Trudy Stevens' voice.

When I grumble about inconsistency or discontinuity, my Old Guy says "Suspend, suspend!" But it's not so much disbelief that irritates me, it's sloppy workmanship. Any editor worth her salary should notice these things!

Yesterday was the OG's birthday, so we had an old favourites marathon with the VCR: 2010, Good Will Hunting and Bicentennial Man. I actually didn't mind.

B&W movies I loved as the original "high-definition" HD-tv. They always seemed so sharply in-focus relative to color tv or movies, which seemed slightly blurry in comparison.
Of-course, these-days things are different. But, I have many fond memories of watching B&W films. Especially B-Movie Sci-Fi horrors.

I'm watching the recording I made off the TV, a few years ago of the film "Bell Book and Candle," starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, Ernie Kovacs and Jack Lemmon. In the film. Lemmon is the bongo playing brother of Kim Novak, a witch.

I saw this at the cinema in my late teens when it was released. As a jazz enthusiast, it was my introduction to the jazz trumpet playing duo, The Candoli Brothers. This film helped their career as shortly afterwards, they released an album "Bell Book & Candoli."
Although he's not mentioned in the credits, I recognised the guitarist as Barney Kessel.

Here's a clip.

Worth looking out for this film if you've not seen it before.
An unlikely romance, as in real life Stewart was 50 and Novak 25.

Is that a different Kim Novak movie than the one you mentioned before, if I'm having a correct memory about who mentioned her before?

We were watching 12 Angry Men again last night. Gets better every time. Henry Fonda's most worthwhile contribution to film, for my opinion.

Saw most of a movie last night I'd never seen before, Out of Time, Denzel Washington, Eva Mendez. A great psych suspense thing and I love both of them so much. Don't know how it escaped my attention until now. I was enjoying it so much, I saved the last 20 mins to watch tonight or over the weekend so I can think about it for a while first, really savor the suspense.
