The problem with IE is that it hasn't been updated in centuries. So a lot of the snazzy technology that's come up in recent years (like the openable dialog box we use here at ATP to add a plant to our list) simply can't work in IE without jumping through a lot of hoops to make it work.
Really, nobody should be using IE anymore. I feel like Microsoft stopped working on it forever ago and just gave up. Everyone should load up one of the modern web browsers like Chrome or Firefox. It's good not just for ATP but for the whole web.
