We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid Blooms in February 2023 🥰" in Orchids forum

Let me start with my old Bc Hoku Gem 'Sunspots'.
If you are looking for a small windowsill Cattleya, this one fits the bill. It blooms several times a year.

Ursula, I love that your orchids are blooming with the snow in the background. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby
I woke up this morning to find a spike that bloomed on my Coelogyne flaccida that I hadn't even noticed. Actually, it was the heavy perfume scent in the air that lured me to it.

It's top heavy so it's sitting in a hanging pot with various ferns and tahitian bridal veil that somehow showed up in the hanging basket.
The picture of it is down on the bottom.
My Rth. Hsinying Sunbeam has 4 flowers now and what I love about it is that it reminds me of daffodils. When I was a kid my parents sometimes got me daffodils for my birthday in March, so it feels like a birthday present. Hurray!

My Ludisia discolor 'nigricans' is blooming away with 3 spikes and believe it or not it's still in the tiny 3 inch pot I purchased it in, so this is proving to me that orchids love to be crowded. This one does anyway.

Gherri, I love your hanging basket, the Coelogyne looks perfect in it.

I picked this Phaius up today to show a neighbor and wow, I never realized how heavily scented it is.

Alice, I love the color combination on that Phaius. They look so velvety and have an antique look about them.
My orchid club, Platinum Coast Orchid Society, is having a show in May 5 - 7 here on Merritt Island, the size is gymnasium sized and the cost is $5. I'm excited about it because I volunteered to clerk for the judges, so I'm expecting to learn a lot.

Thanks Gheri, I am loving these terrestrial orchids since I don't do well with the others.

You will surely learn a lot from the judges at your show, have fun.

I really enjoy clerking for the Judges…you DO learn a lot but also while judging the vendor displays you learn which plants you should be buying!

While I am waiting on some of my Spring-flowering Cattleyas to do their thing, this Dendrobium Specio-kingianum 'Madame' pops out blooms all Winter long. The leaves on this plant never look that great for long, but I take it. It smells great!!

One of my little ones is growing a little stem off it's old stalk as well. Looks like it might rebloom off it.

This tiny mystery has been blooming for almost a month, I kept forgetting to get a photo to post. About 2 years ago I wedged a plant in a clay pot in the crotch of this crape myrtle. At some point a squirrel (I assume) dislodged it and it fell down and got lodged where I could not reach it. The pot was broken and I was able to retrieve a few shards but could not get to the plant. It has been hiding in there with no food, only occasional rain water and still lives on. I have no idea what it is, the flower is only about 1.5".

The first thing coming to my mind is Dendrobium (nobile ?) type.

I would say Bill has it, Dendrobium phalaenopsis type. He says that color is fairly common in those. Which one exactly is hard to say!

Thanks Bill! Smiling

I have this Dendrobium atroviolaceum X compactum. I got it last year, but this is the second time it bloomed, so I must be doing something right. This is a really easy orchid to grow. Smells like peppery vanilla too. It started in February, it is now March and it will probably start dropping flowers in May.

Ooh, Katy your spotty Den is just magnificent, what a lot of pretty blooms. My favorite thing about the Dens is that most of them bloom for such a long, long time, too.

My Phaius are coming to full bloom, too. This is 'Oktoberfest' and Alice, yes! I had never before noticed that they are fragrant either! Had them at least 10 years.

This one is the species (I think) Phaius tankervillea with smaller flowers, but if possible, they are even more fragrant.

Katy, that Den is spectacular.
Elaine, if I had not picked the pot up so my neighbor could see the flowers, which point downward, I would not have know about the scent either. I have checked Wild Thing several times and can detect no scent whatsoever.
