You saying Sergey's irises perform poorly for you does not give me hope they'd perform well for me. I am in a warmer zone and deal with humidity as an iris killer.

Sergey's irises are all incredible and so enticing. If I could make a trip to Russia and get his cultivars here without being illegal, you bet I'd do it!

As I have found out from many years of growing iris, a certain iris usually does not do well in every region.
There are I am sure exceptions.
There are also iris that die out frequently over and over no matter how many times you reorder and plant them.
There are iris that bloom only every two or three years,and I have had 2 that waited 7 years to bloom.There are iris that put out few increases, and are very slow to grow.You wind up constantly afraid you will lose them.
Certainly there are things you can try- moving them, giving them more sun exposure,dividing,fertilizing ,etc.However,no matter what ,some are just not going to do well.Certain iris can just be fickle.

Although Serjio does have a beautiful picture of Sergey in the database, so it probably grows well there too!!

I have had a bunch of iris this year that have stayed in bloom for weeks.

One of them is Blyth's BB Timely Kiss:

My camera wanted to make it redder this year

And this is a lousy picture of Timely Kiss but shows an unfortunate planting choice as it is near Shockaholic and I had not realized they would look so much alike. Oops!

P.S. There are a few other too close in colors in this area too, which I will get to later.


Spoon's Daughter of Stars was wonderful this year.







I had this yellow NoID pop up. I have no idea where it came from as it isn't Melted Butter which is the only similar yellow blend iris I have owned. I don't think it's much to look at up close but when looking at the garden from a distance it really stood out with it's cheery color.

Burseen's Urban Riot was a massive riot of blooms this year.



Really too much of a riot at times...



Howard Dash sent me Frank's Dream as a bonus. I had only seen one picture of it so was really happy that it is much better than that picture. Quite a nice iris in it's first year of bloom.
