Mantis - your PHC is so lovely! I had mine for 5 years and it never bloom nearly as nice as yours. Lovey dubby Red glory is gorgeous, such a striking shade. How old is your carnation boutique?

Shelby - do you frequently get snow in your area? My (pretty novice) personal observation, lemon chiffon tends to bloom double when I get 1+week of snow on the ground. I was struggling to get double blooms, but had two solid snowy winters back to back and they bloom double the following spring. I am not sure if it really need that consistent freezing temp or the slow melting snow. Hilarious! I didn't get any snow last winter and expect to see singles this year.

Shelby55 said: Meadowlark Botanical Garden in Vienna, VA. There's a mature peony bed behind the Koi pond with the gazebo, and added another 30ish roots 3-5 years ago. Their larger more mature peonies are "late" varieties except for a few corals. I've seen pics from there in the plant database; so someone else around me has upload pics. There's also 4 Kieko peonies (always loaded with 50+ blooms) by their Korean Bell Garden and a few other random peonies here and there.

Wow the description of the Meadowlark botanical garden peony's is something to look up. Heading to google…thanks for the heads up… Hurray!

Chiffon Clouds (smells amazing). All of the buds are deformed. Only this one opened. Can anyone confirm it as Chiffon Clouds? There is a chance that it is Spumone Whisper.

Pink Hawaiian Coral bloomed well here already in its second year. Huge blooms!
Carnation Bouquet is fairly small--indeed scented. It has grown quite well, but is not that floriferous.
Angel Cheeks here is vigorous and adventitious. Same for Coral Sunset, though blooming can be inconsistent, as Meiko noted.
Lemon Chiffon had a super year here two years ago (mostly double and semi-double). This year it was zapped by March freeze. Also less impressive in 2022 (after a snowy and consistently cold winter), though still with doubling and acceptable bloom.

Here is Alexander Woolcott.

Update on peony's … no blooms yet but lots of buds.
The bad news… this weekend a historic heat wave is headed our way 5 days of 90 degree days in a row in May. Last time 90's in May was in 1982. Sooo…will keep an eye on all the rhody's, too and dig out the umbrellas and green house shade cloth.

The good news.. all the trees have leafed out so the house will stay cool and no air conditioning needed . The trees have done their job keeping the house cool during heat waves. It's gonna be shorts weather.. we don't get until July. Yikes..

D'Oh!
Ruthanna, love your peonies and that clump of irises is magnificent!

Gary your Pastelorama is so pretty! Your Kathy's Touch looks awesome too!

Hiyamakki, your Joker is perfect and I just love Pink Jitterbug!
I do not have Chiffon Clouds , so can't comment. Nice to know it's fragrant.

Mantis, your Alexander Wolcott is wonderful! It must be so eye catching in your garden. Red Charm is always lovely.

Bea, I hear you about the heat. I had to turn the A/C on !

I agree with LG everyone has super Stunnin blooms this season. Hurray!

@Mieko2 I would agree with how frustrating it is to write a long post and have it get stuck in a black hole never to be seen again.

Always appreciate all your efforts and support you have shared with us all. Never a dull moment just when you think it's ok it's always something. I got You… Group hug 🐝

Rose heart getting ready. I'm curious if anyone knows why the 2 buds formed as such. Same thing last year. Only one bud that actually looks like it formed properly

Hiya - pink jitterbug is such an interesting look peony! How well does it grow and stem strength?

Vanilla schnapps- one of the malformed blooms opened up with only half a bloom and another opened up with mold(?) in the middle. I am a little surprise it managed to bloom with a center like that, it pulled it off and trashed it.

It's been wonderful going thru all the pics of your beautiful peonies. My only peony blooming is the fernleaf hybrid (thank you Anya for the root last fall). It's been a cold winter in the Seattle area & the sun has arrived along with a projected heat wave of 90 this weekend, crazy! It will be interesting to see how my buds fare.
