Italia sure looks special! And Corsage has really stood the test of time - still lovely.
Tracey, that Madonna lily looks distinctly different from others I'm familiar with. The shape of the flowers? The way they are held out from the stem? Do you know the provenance?
Some blooming today.

Do you have woodchucks in your area? Woodchucks peel large pieces at a time to get at the tender, juicy part, so it look just like woodchuck damage I see here. Chipmonks and gophers tend to barrow under the plant to get at the bulb; that's what they want. Squirrels dig a small hole to get the medium and small size bulbs--something they can carry away and eat elsewhere. Rabbits eat mostly the green foliage as high as they can reach, leaving only the stem--although, they will bit a small plant off just so they can access leaves they otherwise couldn't reach. You can tell if a rabbit has bitten off a smaller plant because the stem will be cut at an angle and all the leaves are gone. But, in you case--I'd say a woodchuck dropped in for lunch. Let's hope he kept moving!!!

Thanks Lorn. The leaf stripping by rabbits, especially baby cottontails I saw last year. I spread a lot of Milorganite around before mulching and they've pretty much stayed away from those beds. There are woodchucks in the now fallow pasture next door. I haven't seen them down at this end before but if the little guys are spreading out I'll have to do something about that. Hmmm...we never had these problems before the leash laws. I used to find/smell critter parts here and there though.
