Hey @Needrain - good to see you again. From what I hear you don't need so much rain this year?

I'm lovin' it! Every time it rains, I wonder how long it will be until we get the next one. Habit, I guess. It's so much better than when it doesn't show up on a regular basis. Smiling . For just a while, we look as green as Missouri!

David,
How's that Bougainvillea doing? Did the green stems ever try to start new growth? Here's a photo of mine that looked dead. A little bit had rotted because the soil in the container refused to dry out. I thought it had all died and discovered they looked green if you scratched the surface. Then they started growth. I cut it back hard - down to 2" - because the canes grew in only one direction. I managed to keep knocking off the growth and it got taken down by frost once, but here it is today. It is enjoying the weather we've been having. Don't know if it will attempt to bloom or not with all the mistreatment.

Sadly - I don't think it made it. Likely cause I had it in the garage over winter. But it did not get terribly cold cause we had a very mild winter. The 2 that were indoors are fine.

Sigh. Even worse - I killed our 30 + year old Jasmine. Apparently I over watered it Grumbling

I kept mine in the garage overwinter as well. It gets near freezing, but not quite. It stayed too damp. For some reason it just wouldn't dry up. That's why a couple of canes just came up with a bit of a tug and mostly why I thought the whole plant died. I probably got lucky!

Just a July photo update of my Bougainvillea 'Raspberry Ice'. lots of leaves..it endured our heat wave quite well, just had to step up watering.
We are getting a very nice temperature cool down..hopefully it attempts to make some bracts.

Sadly this is the plant that I killed over winter. Guess I let it get too dry. One of 3 - other 2 are doing fine.

Three days of 100 deg. weather is making my bougainvillea very happy. Here are my three NOIDs.

Lovely photos JB! Your first one is like my variegated one when it makes it blooms, in late summer to early Fall. Do take a photo when it gets its orange blooms! Mine is pink when it blooms, still a bit of a wait.

This was last year @tarev. They start out orange and turn pink as they get older. Crazy plant but pretty.

This is last fall in the greenhouse. All of them went crazy most of the fall and early winter.

Love that yellow and green variegation with pink and orange blooms! Looks so cheerful!

So glad you posted the photos, at least my plant is not alone when it decides to bloom towards the end of summer, since I see a lot blooming like crazy here all summer long.

@tarv my bougs actually bloom until close to Thanksgiving after I put them in the greenhouse. I keep them watered and fed and then when they are done blooming, or at least the blooms are all dead, I cut them back really hard. This winter it was so difficult because our weather was so changeable I had a difficult time keeping the GH temperatures constant.

I retired from selling and propagating and so I am just playing with my favorites, which are Jasmine, Bougainvillea and Mandevilla. They are so easy to care for during the winter and they are so beautiful outside in the Spring. Have a great day.

Sadly, I think my bougainvillea has gone kaput, while we were away for about a month at the height of our heat wave last August. Trying to nurse it back but no signs of new leaf growth yet. At least my lantana recovered. Still hoping..
