Just found this............I don't want to make you all feel bad, but here are my "big 'uns" in my g'house. I should have cut them back again in Feb. Maybe I should do it now, they will still be nice this summer outside. I took this a couple of weeks ago. It will be at LEAST 6 weeks before they can go outside again.

Well, I feel bad Big Grin . I chopped mine off to less than 2" of woody stem. It was trying to grow back but I forgot and left it out and a frost damaged the tiny new growth. It's currently trying to grow again. It sure doesn't look remotely like yours! Those look great.

Those are beautiful Anna! Oh, I don't feel bad! I enjoy seeing bougies in other growing areas..there will always be differences especially if grown in a protected greenhouse. I am just glad mine is waking up nicely! Our temps are going higher too this week, it would truly enjoy it!

I would feel very bad if I did not see any new growth at all on mine, but it is so forgiving woohoo! Hurray!

I don't feel bad. I feel ENVY!!! Whistling Hilarious!

My one in the Dining Room (yes - Dining Room) bloomed its little heart out a couple months ago.
I put mine on the deck in summer where they get full day sun for 5 months and tend to bloom a couple times. I tip my hat to you.

I get more shade here, and it seems my bougie likes to bloom in Fall after the onerous heat has lightened up a bit.

It is always interesting to compare notes. Sometimes I think it is fascinating that many of us (sometimes pushing zones a bit) grow the same thing, yet we have to treat it differently cause of where we are.

I am fairly active on a few plant groups on FB where the knowledge base is not as deep or broad as here.

Some guy from Nebraska asks about growing something and someone from Florida responds and the guy from NE says - wow thanks! I'll do that. More than once I have jumped in and said WHOA!!! and tried to intervene to prevent plant death. hehe

My best blooms last year were mid August when it is absolutely brutal here temp wise.

Now that I am retired I have time to devote to my favorites, bougainvillea and mandevilla. I keep them on my deck and in my dog run all summer in the full sun. The Jasmine also. I dog run is a large area fenced in against my south deck. I sit out there a lot since I have a Sunsetter to shade the plants on the deck and me, when it gets really hot. This is what it looked like last summer.

I only have the red mandevilla. Three to be exact and they are all cut back and now growing out. I am fighting mealy bug on them already this season. They are just like a magnet with those darn mealy bugs.

The bougainvillea is white, pink and orange and the orange reverts back to pink after the flowers get older. They are all noids but I just love them. I will bring them outside after Mother's day and just let them grow and spread all over the place until the next frost. I wish I could find some other colors. If you know of any venders who sell bougainvillea in a variety of colors please let me know. Have a great day.

@David LMO
I would love to take mine outside but it is just still too cold at night. I am hoping I did not remove the heaters in the greenhouse too soon. I have the doors and vents open today but I am about to go shut them since it is to rain and storm. Talk later.

Saw this lovely white bougainvillea while I was in Manila two weeks ago, growing happily in that container by the church parking lot, I love it Lovey dubby Sure is thriving in the intense heat and humidity there:

My Bougainvillea 'Raspberry Ice' is doing good. My garden is quite shaded now, but I do hope it will try to make some bracts soon. Need a bit more warmth too:

I have one of those too. I think I will put it in a hanging pot and see if it does better.

Sadly, I have to report that I think I have kilt one of mine. The one I over-wintered in the garage. Sighing!
The other 2 look fine.

My bougs are looking well considering I am having no control over the greenhouse just now. I removed the heater and it gets down to the 40s which is much too low for them to be happy. Fortunately that temp does not stay that way as the sun comes up but the sun didn't shine for over a week and they are still alive, no sign of blooming yet. I am going to pick up another orange today. It is just too cold to put them outside yet. They need 60 deg. but we are still in the 40's at night and I am afraid to put them out in that for 8 hours or more. This has been the worst Spring in a long time. It has been cold and rainy and very little sun. Yet, I can say I only lost one jasmine which was a Maid of Orleans that I raised but it just did not survive the winter. Not sure why. The others did.

It MAY still be alive. I scratched the stem barely and it was green underneath. So we shall see. It is my variegated one with white flowers. Sighing!

Keep an eye on it. It may well be alive. I thought mine had died overwinter, but it finally began to put out some growth along the canes. However, the old growth was so lopsided I wanted to cut it all off and start over if I could, so I cut it back to about 2" which left just 4 canes. One of those has not put out any growth, but the remaining three are growing well enough now. That new growth was easily knocked off and that happened 2-3 times getting moved around and finally repotted. The worst time was when it all was bitten back by a frost. I thought at the time it was protected and safe, but the frost got it anyway. Currently it's growing fast. Just hoping it doesn't get hailed on where it would have to start over again.
