You can poke a couple of holes in the skin of your spaghetti squash and microwave for a couple of minutes for safe and easy cutting. It softens it just enough to get the cut started. Smiling

I got my yard long beans planted today, and another large space cleared out for my spaghetti squash and green-striped cushaw plants. I usually train them up on the fence because they'll take over otherwise.

I also got the space behind my entrance gate lowered so that I can actually open it all the way now. Big Grin

Still no blooms on the peas, but they're outgrowing their tomato cage supports. Should I stake them higher, or just let them flop a bit if they want to? Radishes in the same area are huge, too!

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray Chelle. You will be surprised at the production on the yard long beans. They just keep growing these beans. I would just let the peas flow if they reached the top.

I could if I had an actual daylily garden! Right now, the daylilies are going in the veggie garden. I have a tiny little flower bed around three sides of the house, and that is it. I also have about 3 acres of lawn and I want to get rid of most of it, and put the daylilies out there somewhere. Just no idea yet on what I will do. In the meantime, I can't make the gourd thing between the house and the veggie garden because the driveway is between the two. We wouldn't be able to get our travel trailer out if I did that, and I have lots of camping to do! I want to eventually make something permanent to grow the gourds on, so it will have to wait until we figure out what we are doing to do with all this land we have now. I'm still going to try and talk Mark into letting me make the gourd thing between the house and shop. I've had that idea stuck in my head since we saw this house for the first time, and I can't picture doing anything else!

Rita, it would almost be too tall then, but I suggested that he doesn't actually have to walk through it! Rolling on the floor laughing

Thanks Arlene! I'm so happy here!! I get up every morning and scream out the window that I love it here! No neighbors can hear me, which makes it even better! I doubt I'll get anything figured out fast though. I'm in slow motion since moving. I need to learn how to slow down anyway because nothing up here is at a speed that I'm used to. That is just fine with me!

No bees around, no bees to be seen but I have Zucchnini blossoms. So I got out a Q-tip and tried putting male pollen on these lovely female flowers with the would be green zucs attached. We will see if I turn out to be sucessful althought I don't know how long it takes till I know if it took!

Open flowers-

The yellow zucchini have small buds of the females as I can see the tiny would be fruits. But not near flowering.

I have just the beginnings of the first flowers on my really strange Sugar Lace II snap peas. No pictures as yet. And no signs of blooms on my snow peas as yet.

The Norli in ground snap peas were the first to show blooms. Blooming good now. Here they are in back of the tomato plants.

You can see the row better here.

So I know I am really late late but I just sowed some mustard greens (not a lot) and some celery seeds. Wow, that celery seed is so small I can barely see it. I have Tango Celery which I have read is very good for home gardeners. I have read celery is difficult but I had celery from seedlings last year and found it very easy to grow.

Love all your photo's Rita and I'm anxious to see how your celery does. I got a packet of seeds from Chelle when I won the raffle and didn't sow them. They are in the refrigerator staying fresh Whistling Green Grin! But I've heard it's easy to grow.

I love to add celery to my veggie soups. It would be nice to have my own home grown!

I am trying to plant a bunch of stuff that would make what I am calling Summer Veggie Soup. Based on Chicken Bullion and add whatever is fesh from the garden. So that might be green beans, celery, any cabbage leaves, bok choi, chard, peas, onion, turnips (that I would like to grow), eggplant, zucchini, cowpeas, spinach. Well you get the idea.

I make a veggie soup in the winter that is based on root veggies and dried peas and beans. So turnips, potatoes, parsip, sweet potato, dried green peas, dried beans. onion and whatever else I might have. Summer Soup is different as it is for fresh from the garden and use whatever one has growing. Oh yes, forgot the green peppers and tomatoes! How could I forget!. I really eat a lot of veggies in the summer, I just about live on my garden veggies in the summer.

Well, no fruit on anything yet. My brocolli is starting very small heads though. I just noticed them today.

I think you're an awesome cook too. I was wondering if you would add tomatoes because that sounded like a good addition to your veggie soup too Thumbs up
