Plant Tone is good for all flowers if you only want to get one type. I use those bagged dry fertilizers in the spring. Mid summer I only use liquid fertilizers. Favorite being Neptune Fish Seaweed. I use it on my roses, daylilies and tomatoes. Great stuff.

Thanks!

It is not going to be a big space. That TB iris section is inly 4 feet 8 inches wide. Then I figgure I might be getting 5 feet or so in length. But it will be more than I had before. I would like to use it for early spring stuff like greens (lettuce, spinach, mustard) beats, turnips, celery, swiss chard. Maybe brocolli. Nothing that needs vertical trellis (unless I change my mind on that). Also I like to double crop on certain things. A spring crop and then reuse the space for a fall crop. But the spring crop is out for this year as I can't start on the iris moving until they finish blooming.

LOL! You won't be able to park/drive in your driveway pretty soon! Everything looks great.

I have so many weeds in the garden now! Lots of grass. Close to being done planting seeds and hopefully will have some weeding days ahead. I don't want to wait too long or I'll never get the grass out.

I planted my extra tomato plants today (ones that didn't sell at market, about 24). They don't get babied like my main ones. Slap them in the extra field and water them. No staking or suckering. They're all just a bonus if they produce.

Then I planted my sweet potatoes today. So glad to have that over. Next some corn and more beans, beets, carrots and radishes. This year we are planting extra corn to sell at market. Oh, we'll plant popcorn a bit later so it doesn't cross with sweet corn.

Gotta have stuff to sell!

But hey, what about you? You're always planting something too. And you probably won't have half the weed problems I have. Your POT GHETTO looks fabulous!!! Thumbs up

Cutworms used to get into my tomatoes when I had them in ground in the backyard. I had to put toothpicks right next to the stems to stop them.

When we first planted veggies here we had them too, but now the resident bird population must keep them under control. I haven't seen one in the veggie patch for years now. I did smoosh one in one of the perennial beds day before yesterday, but that one is all I've seen so far.

Most of my tomatoes are in the triangle cages. Not too sturdy but has always been good enough for me. Here are some views of the ones near the front porch.

But last year I tried out a new to me method of support called Florida Weave. So the plants weaved last year are weaved again this year. You have to embiggen to see the weave but it really works well.

Do you just have the one at that height, Rita, or do you add another later that's higher for taller plants?

Thing I hate about cutworms is it's usually fatal. So sorry.

I've seen the weavw done and it seems to be pretty stable.

The weave is really cool and I'm wondering too, if you do it higher up.

Rob, so sorry about the cutworms Crying

I just put the first layer on yesterday. So as the plants grow you add layers of weave. So maybe the plants get 8 inches taller I can do my second layer. You just keep going. And it does hold them really well. Much better and I think much easier than tying.

Something got into my Straight Eight Cucumbers overnight and dug at them. Now the seedlings have totally wilted by the time I found them. I replanted and watered but I am going to start some new Straight Eight Seeds as I don't think these are going to recover. I have lots of extra seeds so might as well start some.

This is exactly why I like to have extra seeds of things. Usually there is some disaster or another and most years something needs to be started again.

Thanks, Rita. Now we know that we need tall stakes to tie the twine to. Thumbs up

Sorry about your cukes, but it's good to hear that you have replacement seeds.

Groundhogs are munching here, but not in any areas that I've applied Plantskydd...thank goodness. I'm waiting impatiently for more to come in. I'll use it everywhere!
