When Hookeri blooms, it tends to set offsets at the same time, sometimes on the bloom spike. The rosettes are so small, its hard to tell how old they are. If you need more, Lynn, let me know, but you should see plenty of little ones soon.
Since I'm ignorant to all of this, I have totally enjoyed and laughed a lot. I'm loving the education I'm getting. Hope my old brain can keep part of it.
Hello Charlene & Charlie.
Hi Faye, I see you made your way to the bolting experiment. : )
Here are update photos of mine, photos taken today. Seems 'Ali' just more serious about making blooms. 'Duke of Windsor', I am still holding our that I will get at least one or two offsets. I know it's wishful thinking. Looks like I have both blooms and offsets on Hookerii.
S. arach 'Ali' 7/3/2011, S. 'Duke of Windsor' and S. 'Hookerii'.
The first time I saw the blooms I was so excited.......then someone informed me that after blooming the plant would die. Now, that was news I really didn't want. so glad there were enough "babies" to keep the jar full.
Once the rosette blooms are set, I now pull up the blooming rosette and move it to my "bloom" pot, which is a cracked 10 or 12" clay pot. The rosette continues to bloom and set seed, even though the roots have no substrate and the plants get neglected. I just stack the stalks together, so end up with a big pot of blooms and later, a lot of seed.
Getting the blooming hen out of the pot with the offsets remaining gives the offsets more space. Putting the bloomers together means easier pollination for the bees and more seed from the plants, all in a small space to make my job of collection easier. I'm hoping to have a lot of seed to share with members this year, later in the year.
Twit that is a great idea. I am going to need many pots for those bloom stalks. Right now the bees are everywhere in the semp beds. It smells so good out there while I am working.

I went out and did a sniff test. Some of the semp flowers have a very light scent, but my little ground cover type sedum are sending perfume through the air. How heavenly the scent is. The bees almost seem drunk from the nectar.
Will have to get a photo today if it stops raining long enough for the bees to come out.
