OK, you ALL convinced me. I downloaded Firefox and set it as my default browser. I imported all my bookmarks. But on IE I have a favorites bar across the top that is where I have the shortcut to get to ATP. Had to come back to IE to get on here. Now trying to figgure out if there is such a thing on Firefox. Told you all I am not very comouter savey.

If you've "bookmarked" ATP in FireFox, this might give you something like the "Favorites" button:

Menu | View | Toolbars | Check "Bookmarks Toolbar"

But it won't help until you "bookmark" ATP in FireFox.

Maybe do this just once in FireFox:

Get into FireFox
On the menu, click: "View" | "Toolbars" | Check "Navigation Toolbar"
. . . . . . . . . . so you can see the Internet address where you are.
Paste http://garden.org/ into the Navigation Toolbar
Hit "Enter" or click the circular arrow to the right of the address

[b]That will take you TO ATP in FireFox.

Now "Book mark" ATP (that's FireFox-speak for "make it a Favorite") [\b]

Either hit "CTRL D" or
On the menu, click: "Bookmarks" | "Bookmark This Page" | "Done"


Or you can make ATP your FireFox Home Page. Once you are in ATP:
On the menu, click: Tools | Options | General tab |
. . . . . . . . ..... When FireFox starts, Show My Home Page
. . . . . . . . ..... Home Page: http://garden.org/
. . . . . . . . . . . .OK






Hmm, I don't see how to "send this link to an icon on your desktop".

That is what I am trying to do I think. Get ATP to open right away like I can do it on IE. I did manage to Bookmark ATP so at least I can find it but haven't figured out the rest.

My Firefox has an area just below the top bar that has the address. I can drag things down to that area and can click directly to some of the places I go often. Here's a screen shot of mine (I highlighted ATP in pink so you can see where it's located):



I'm not sure if I added something to have that capability or not. But it's kind of nice.

You will love it once you get more comfortable with it. I never regretted making the change. Everything works better since the change.

Firefox has a dandy add-on called samfind. It's an extra toolbar with logos of anything you want to access quickly.

I am guessing that might be what I want.

Is this helpful? Once you get TO ATP, set it as your home page by dragging one widget on top of another widget.

BTW...thank you to the people from whom I've gotten Thumbs...I never knew...lol..

It could be different for you, but when I click on add-ons from the Tools queue, I get this message:

"Sorry, we couldn't find any recommendations for you.
Please visit the add-ons site to find an add-on that's right for you."

The "add-ons site" part of that message is clickable, so I went there, searched for "samfind," and was taken to the page for the samfind bookmarks bar.

I got heavily into the "Bookmarks menu", with subcategories for FAVORITE seed vendors, ASIAN seed vendors, Tomato seeds, GOOD seed vendors, OTHER seed vendors, Garden Links, Garden Other ... and some work stuff, too.

I keep a bunch of favorite links in my signature block here. Sometimes the fastest way to get somewhere is to go to ATP first, and then click in my sig block.
