The thread "Our Orchid blooms in August 2023 🌻" in Orchids forum
It is September 1. on a gorgeous, sunny day here in NJ. We woke up to temps in the 50 dgr F and and a hint of Fall is in the air today.
I start with my Vanda Pachara Delight 'Blue', opening a spike in the cage.

This old Ceratostylis retisquama had started to decline last Winter, I am really happy to see some new good growth over the Summer.

Jumellea comorensis blooms all Summer long on a somewhat wild looking plant and I like the nicely Cinnamon scented flowers a lot.

And the Bc Hoku Gem 'Sunspots' opens some more as the blooms change to lighter yellow.

@sedumzz Alex, the Jumellea comorensis is a good plant to grow! Light is about like Phalaenopsis condition, but likes to be well watered daily. ( I flood it daily) The good part is that this blooms pretty much year around, it does not really have a season. And the blooms are really nicely cinnamon scented...as mentioned...

And thanks guys! Smiling

Ooh, Ursula Group hug be careful out there! At our age we break more easily, and heal much more slowly, too. Hope the surgery does put your hand back together nicely, and be sure to do all the physical therapy afterwards, to strengthen it and regain your full function. Hands are our most important garden tools.

The Jumellea is certainly a wonderful orchid. Unfortunately it didn't like my growing conditions one bit, and gracefully declined, after you generously shared a start, years ago.

I do still have a thriving plant of Den bigibbum var. compactum from you - blooming wonderfully this week, with 7 spikes in the works.

Moving my plants back inside, I got a nice surprise, the Rlc Hawaiian Green Valley was budding. Here we are now with 2 blooms, not perfect, but I take it. Smiling

And the cute and very wiggly Nageliella/ Domingua purpurea is still at it after blooming the whole Summer.

Elaine, yes, I will try my best to heal well. Not a good thing to wind up with a useless hand for a while.
Your Dendrobium bigibbum looks wonderful, I am glad! Lovey dubby Mine kicked the bucket some years ago!

Thanks! I got it at a roadside orchid nursery in the Keys a long time ago. They didn't sell orchids by name, they sold by color LOL.

I would have picked it too! This is the first time my Vanda's are blooming really well. Mine have tags but they are hidden among the roots.

I saw Motes have their Vanda sales again! I am so tempted to buy again. Mine are doing really well! Too bad not free shipping anymore:

I was looking around the database and I really like Epidendrum Sunset Valley and the ones that look similar (Like Pacific Parade). I like the growth form a lot and the flowers are really nice.

Great blooms Lindsey. I was just thinking I have not seen you post lately.

As for NGA password, if you have the email in your phone, all you have to do is look for a notification that someone treemailed you. Click on that link and it brings you to the treemail and homepage. I don't even know my password here.
