Not all ghosts are looking to cause you harm. Some just want to be noticed.
I have a pair who sometimes stand by my bed and watch me sleep. I've woken up in the middle of the night and there they are. One is a very tall man in a checkered suit jacket. The other is a woman but I can;t see her as clearly. Have no clue who they are

I still could not live there. There may be ghosts in my house now, but I've never seen them. If I did, I couldn't live here.

I hesitate to reply to questions because my situation is multi-layered and I don't want to bore anyone with story after story. I've studied psychic phenomena most of my adult life and am clairvoyant, meaning I can see spirits. The house I live in belonged to a young man who died a painful tragic death, and his spirit remained in the house. With the help of a talented psychic medium who spent untold hours communicating with spirits and closing a portal, my house has seemed spirit-free for several years. When I awoke from a sound sleep two nights ago to the sight of a man standing by my bed I was very frightened and disheartened. I know how to protect myself and my house, but I had let down my guard. Even though I have an intellectual understanding of the paranormal, I always have an uncontrollable visceral fear when I see or sense an intruder. Today I'm trying to contact the psychic who helped me previously and get her take on this. I'll make a separate post about my haunted garden, which is a good place.

nature keeps amazing me
Last weekend I was doing prep work at the kitchen sink when I heard that familiar sound-click, click. It was the electronic ignition turning on to activate the gas on my cook top. I checked the burner and sure enough one was sparking. Upon further inspection I found them-all 5- to be sparking. Just out of nowhere these things turned themselves on? They have to be pushed down and turned to start the ignition then the gas turns on with a swoosh noise. All 5 at once? Somebody was playing games-again. I unplugged the electrical cord just to be safe. Gas and a spark/ No way. Things like this happen now and again and Ipay them no mind but-

Gina1960: Warding: I agree--I'm not emotionally strong enough right now to actually do this correctly. I'm continuing to put up psychic defenses, and tomorrow will do a psychic housecleaning. I use the techniques recommended by Michelle Belanger. Now I'm thinking this may have been the spirit of someone who just died and was merely passing through. I can clearly recall the features of the man I saw, and wonder if it was someone I had once known. I discovered long ago that I attract the spirits of those who have just died. One night I half-awoke to the feeling of someone sitting on my leg and I kept moving and pushing the person away from me during the night. Next morning I woke with the name "Miriam" in my mind. When I read the obituaries, there was a Miriam listed. These night-time visitations happened often enough that I had to make a choice: Be of some sort of comfort to a recently-passed spirit and risk them becoming attached to me, or opt for a good night's sleep and give my all at work?

Brenda, maybe a call for repair, as you said, gas and electricity not a good thing.

Found this:
How do you fix a gas stove that won't stop clicking?

If your gas stove keeps clicking even when it's off, it can be pretty annoying. Thankfully, it's rarely a harmful issue unless you smell gas. If you smell gas while your stove is clicking, turn off the gas, unplug the stove top, evacuate your home, and contact your utility provider.

To fix your gas stove, you must first identify the issue at hand. The most common issues include something blocking the igniter (causing it to click endlessly) or an unaligned burner cap.

You can fix a blocked igniter by using a small item like a metal pin or a needle to dig the blockage out. An unaligned burner cap should be removed and replaced so that it sits squarely in the middle of the burner.
As Yogi Berra said, “It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”

All hauntings aren't scary. From my home office windows I often see a male figure walk around my house and down a path towards the front gate. No matter the weather, he seems to be wearing a white shirt or tee shirt. Others who have seen him have described him as wearing a red plaid Pendleton-type shirt, or as a large glowing golden orb. Two professional psychic friends walked my yard with me and identified an area where sacred Native American ceremonies had taken place long ago. I was seeing a residual Kalapuan Indian ghost, which is like an imprint on a place, on a continual loop, as opposed to an intelligent haunting, which is what I experience in my house. I opted not to try a removal, but to leave the spot untouched and honor the good that used to be. The Willamette River flows across the road from my house and was important to the tribes for seasonal travel. The ghosts still walk my path.

My experiences run the gamut from many intelligent hauntings in 8 different homes, including so-called sleep paralysis; "the hag;" sightings; loud knocking on walls; odors---cigarette smoke or perfume; spirit attachment (a little girl ghost); movement of objects large and small; touching; hitting; and cold spots, to an ecological haunting; orbs; little black elementals; use of ouija boards, pendulums, and crystal balls. Validation by cameras and video equipment, EVP recorders, EMF meters, and motion detectors, all used by professional paranormal investigators.

I'm interested in paranormal experiences others have had. Are you a lucid dreamer? Do you astrally project? Are you a remote viewer? Can you contact spirits? Have you seen Bigfoot? LOL

I'm a lucid dreamer. I've learned over the years that I can change the way a dream is going by actively thinking about it. I've gotten myself out of many nightmares this way

Gina1960 Are your dreams always in color? I'm surprised when people say they don't dream in color.

Lucid dreaming: Several times I dreamed that I was reading a book, and actually read, understood, and remembered what I read. I could feel the pages as I turned them. Today I don't remember the words I read, or the subject, but at the time they were significant to me. I also read recipes from a Julia Child cookbook one night while sleeping, and prepared her coq au vin the next day from memory!

My form of lucid dreaming is not the same as yours.
Mainly mine consists of being able to 'direct' my dream. If I don;t like something, I can change it. Sometimes. Not all the time.
For instance, if I was in a dream and someone was dying, I could 'save' them by directing myself to do so. Literally telling myself in the dream...you have to save them.

I also have precognitive dreams. A very close friend of mine who had died in 1980 when we were both 20 also knew my older sister. My sister and I never got along. We basically pretty much were total opposites in everything, and kind of hated each other. We stopped speaking when I was a teenager after she moved out of the house.

He came to me in a dream in 1998, as he sometimes did back then, and said, you need to make it up with your sister, because she is going to die soon and if you don't do it now, you won't have the chance.

2 weeks later, she did die.

No, not really. But it's ok. She was one of those kind of people who were so self centered that there was no way to really get along with. Everything had to revolve around her, she was a master manipulator, and she caused my family so much grief over the years that no one wanted to have much to do with her.

Reading while dreaming: The two areas of the brain used in partnership for language comprehension (Broca's and Warnicke's) are usually disrupted during sleep, making reading impossible. Some people (usually professional writers) can read during lucid dreaming. I'm a technical writer/editor, which may explain my sleep-reading and why it seems so important to me.

I, too, manipulate my dreams, with a lot of physical activity occurring. I travel, too. In living color! I love to sleep.

Our brains are so amazing, and I believe that often (but not always) what seems "paranormal" to us only means we are accessing a part of the brain we have forgotten how to use.
