The roots are woven down in the filter medium ( looks like scotch brite) , and it is a mass of fine roots. I will dig around in there during the week and see if I can get a good photo. Smiling

That's Nancy's revenge, it looks like she has 2 leaves, if you look closer that tall leaf is all yellow!
She's been falling off since it got cool, this plant defines vigorous when it's hot, in 3 weeks one leaf has emerges and 5 yellowed and died...
Ill pass on the cool mornings anyway! Under 70 feels cold to me now!
Everything's slowed way down, and looks bad, my biggest Thai giant is still a sight tho! I just keep hopin summer does in fact come back!

15' across, the new leaf is threading to best the last bug one!

I guess 6 blooms in 2 weeks might slow it down too...

...and poor Buford... He's getting there... Slowly...

Thumb of 2013-08-07/Swayback/aabbe4

I sure hope he's not been TOO negatively affected...
I guess ill get to wait til next time to see how fast they can really grow...

Picked up Upright EE/Alocasia today at a clearance for $5.70. They had 2-3 giant bulbs so I got two pots. Ut oh! Rolling on the floor laughing I have an area in the center of my EE garden that trees won't grow. I am hoping this monster will love it there and become a focal point..

Do you know why a tree won't grow there?
Usually trees like somewhat similar conditions as big uprights... Deep rich soil and ample moisture...
Colocasia will thrive under less ideal conditions...
As long as you don't get your heart set on them doing well there you'll be fine!
If wait til next summer and they haven't gotten considerably larger, then you know to move em!
They should take right off and make each leaf bigger than the last, but it's gettin on in the season, it's too late to drop anything in the ground here... I just don't know about there...
