Thank you all!

We do get frost here but I only have one plant I have to move. It's a house plant that is only alive today because we found it could survive in our very protected front door area. It comes inside in January and goes back out mid March. It is always a race to see if the warm weather comes before the cats chew it to death.

This year I moved it too late but I have been forgiven.

I think that may be a Pachira aquatica, sold under the name of 'Money Tree'. They often sell them with braided trunks and yours seem to have some interesting twists in them... If planted outside in a tropical climate it will grow to be a huge tree with beautiful blooms

I spent a week in Penang Malaysia once. It was truly impressive to see what our indoor houseplants could grow into when the conditions were right.

Yes, you have a Malabar Chestnut. I just posted a pic of mine at All things Gardening. I need to know how to braid mine. It has gotten so tall! Mine likes light from the kitchen window and stays indoors all year long.

I really like that White Lava. I just came from HD and they have sold them all, for now at least. Hope they get more in! By then I might have figured out where it will fit in . . Rolling my eyes.

It'll be interesting to see how it stacks up to nancyana, I don't really think ill have a good idea until next year, its my first year for both, but my nancy was tiny and planted in may, the lava came pretty big, but it was awful late and nancy was way bigger by then!
Their lives had been very different before they got here...

I expected nancyana to be a weak grower, boy was I wrong!
White lava atleast has enough of the vigor of that parent to hack it, they are growing fast too!
I doubt seriously they will have the leaf size of nancy but it seems they color up alot earlier, but it's so hard to say, they could have expressed the white shield early for any number of reasons I can think of, from a hot greenhouse to chemical treatment, both of which I'm 100% sure the white lava I bought experienced.
