Thanks for the IDs!! I kept thinking bee something on the little but was having a brain fart on it. It's a fav of mine. The other one I kept thinking Wabash as well after seeing others post pics of it this year but until or unless I find the list of names (she kept records of her plants in a notebook or something but not sure where it went) it's just gonna be a really good guess.

Wabash has purple based foliage which distinguishes it from others similar. Go check.

I'll try to remember to check tomorrow. I have plans to really hit that particular bed hard tomorrow pulling out all the grass. Wanted to start today but had to run errands for tomorrow's dinner.

Weather has been good this spring, and we have come out of the "severe" drought category finally. Getting to see "early, mid, and late" with all the spring flower cultivars, instead of having everything bloom at once.

The "littles" have been blooming for quite awhile now. All of them were pass-a-longs, so they're NOIDS.

First tall bearded bloomed a couple days ago. We call it the Grandma Iris, as it came from my mother-in-law's house.

Will have to dig through my journals to get the name of this one. Hasn't bloomed for quite awhile. I got smart last fall and covered the bed with netting to keep the squirrels out. It kept them from digging out the iris and daylilies so they had a chance to re-establish.

That iris does indeed have PBF so when I get a second I will put it in the database. Came in to give my back a break for a bit. Lots of planting and weeding today before another week of rain.

Ooo, nice contrasting colors on FIERY TEMPER!

Pics from today (some of these blooms are second-day blooms but don't ask me which Rolling my eyes. )....

MUSICALITY, with blooms from the daylily IDENTITY CRISIS in back of it. (IDENTITY CRISIS is an interesting daylily, in that it is one of the few tetraploid variegated daylilies out there. The variegation comes and goes (it is unstable), but supposedly (per an article I just read), on this cultivar you can have what seems to be only green fans left, but still have the variegation reappear. I bought this cultivar for the variegation, as that is one of my garden/hybridizing interests, but no hybridizing progress there. I'll probably still keep the plant anyway (despite its relatively low bud count and unstable variegation), as the yellow blooms (unlike many daylily people, I *like* yellow daylilies) are highly (and unexpectedly) luminous around dusk.)

CRYSTAL GAZER Not a great image, but at least it is blooming this year.

And finally (also not a great image as I keep missing the well placed blooms)

Only one new cultivar open today. I call it the Breck's NOID, as it came from them before I knew better. It wasn't expensive, and though not the iris I wanted, it is pretty. And very prolific!

It IS pretty!

And while a NOID, at least it's not a look-alike to what you wanted, so no garden confusion there. (If a nursery makes a mistake, that's my preference, to not get something that I think is the correct plant, but it really isn't.)

Don't you just want to open the bud up quickly and see the bloom some times. Hilarious!
