Very wet season here so far, so many of my pictures feature rain. I suppose it's pretty, but the blooms don't hold up well.

Fiddlin' Around
Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/c13360

Purchased what I was told was 'Superstition' from a big box store and received what I am almost certain is Fiddlin' Around instead. Have to say I'm not disappointed, it performs spectacularly.

Strawberry Shake

Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/542275

First year in my garden, has a very elegant form so I've been pleased (and we've had so many uncharacteristic windy, hot, humid, or stormy days)

Peach Jam

Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/69d27d
Lovely iris, but I've been having issue with many stunted blooms (i.e. blooms that do not grow to height, bloom around height of a SDB). Is this characteristic of 'Peach Jam'? I know the weather could play a role but I also have 'Wintry Sky' and 'Discovered Treasure' blooming in this area and they have not done that.

Flora Zenor

Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/6e628c
An older iris from the '40s, very lovely and prolific in my garden. The original Schreiner's catalogue description describes the color as "melting pink, like foam on a strawberry soda"

All About Spring

One of my favorites, even though 'Silverado' is in the same plot and slowly taking over Hilarious! Will have to move it come autumn.

Silverado

Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/13677d

If you think self irises, especially in delicate colors are "boring" (I did as well at one point) then I urge you to get 'Silverado'. A stunning iris that performs magnificently for me. Has a bit of sparkle as well.

Love the color on this one!

Have some more NOIDs:

Believe this one to be 'Storm Warning'

Thumb of 2024-05-07/NovaBelle/4d2a87

And this one I think could be 'Red Zinger'

Completely lost on this next one...very ruffled form, sometimes has splashes of purple on the falls. Some white veining, the feel of the fall is so thick as well (if that makes sense). Like when you touch it, the fall itself feels more substantial.

Some really nice pics. Did you know that there is a tread on FB that is for finding names for NOIDs? Some additional help for those who need it, and they very often are successful.

Beautiful blooms Lucy, Monty, and Sue. So sorry to hear your Iris bloom season is over, Monty.

My SDB's are blooming right now and surprising me with multiple clumps scattered about. Teagan, Fires of Fiji, and Blazing Garnet are surprising me with several extra clumps here or there. Ya know, I save and plant every rhizome even if I lost track of which one it was. This is the year now that I start IDing those. I was happy to see that I still have a few of Sea Monster, Pele, and Charmed. I will be digging these this year to get started elsewhere from their present location, the SDB bed.

This was new to me this morning. The one on the right is one that I have scattered all over the yard. But the one on the left is only in this bed. I want to transplant it to a different area. The SDB bed is getting a makeover.

If you get the pictures, you can always post them later. It can get hard to keep up. Lovely bloom!

Thumb of 2024-05-09/shizen/05fbeclove this statuesque understated bloom. it's one of the taller (for my s.d. garden) irises, and never disappoints when it appears. i've had it since 2016 and it has bloomed every year. which is more than i can say for the other irises in my collection.

Thumb of 2024-05-09/shizen/0e520f 'avery's hugs'. it's not the usual colors i pick for this garden. bit i enjoy this taller, smaller iris because of the surprises it presents; some years it's a bluey, slender horn and others it's a flounce. sometimes, it is neither. also, some years its coppery, and other years it's on the pinkier side. ( with a lighter or darker yellow standard)
whoops, got attached to the wrong paragraph….. plus, it's a hybrydizer in our region named c. deaton.
